Worst Case Scenarios

What are your worst case scenarios for this offseason? I'm pretty negative these days.

Here's a few:

1. Citing the desire to further develop their young "talent" on the offensive line, the Cowboys approach to the OL in the offseason is flipping Smith and Free and re-signing Holland. They note a full offseason of Callahan and Woicik plus their experience this year as a reason for standing pat.

2. Signing Anthony Spencer to a lucrative, long term deal.

3. Bringing back Bradie James, Brooking or Newman.

4. Making someone like Mike Otto the crown jewel of the free agency class.

5. Go overboard/reach for corners in the draft.

6. Drafting a TE in the second to replace the production lost from Martellus Bennett.

7. Drafting a guy in 2 who was a first rounder on the Cowboys board and fell due to injury, character, etc.

8. Trading up in 2 for a guy who was a first rounder on the Cowboys board and fell due to injury, character, etc.

9. Failing to draft someone or sign a free agent at a position of need because they don't want progress stoppers for some young guy on the roster who hasn't proven anything (Arkin) or some old guy who is on his way down (Ratliff)

Thinking Victor Butler, Orlando Scandrick, and Barry Church are ready to start so we sit out Free Agency again.

That might be the final straw for me.

Good thread.

you can talk me into 1(one) Kowalski type on the OL. You could talk me into a stopgap safety next to Sensabaugh until something better shakes loose. No one has studs everywhere and you can work w/ that

But you can't work around locking yourself into mediocrity. They already commited to Sensabaugh, Scandrick, and Spears. The fact that Spencer didn't get a deal yet is a good sign, committing to him long-term would be a disaster. He isn't getting any better and the pass rush isn't championship caliber, rattle the elite QB level.

I might able to take picking at 2 due to injury. Maybe.

Character, not so much.

I agree with everything but what I have bolded... Sometimes you have to take that risk. Yea it would make me uneasy because he WAS a first round grade on the cowboys board but if its a guy that pretty much everyone ("draft experts") thought of as a top pick or of first round grade then you take him. The draft is a crap shoot anyway... Might as well.
