Will Jerry Give Garrett Final Say? Deion Says "No"

http://www.nbcdfw.com/blogs/blue-star/Will-Jerry-Give-Garrett-Final-Say-Deion-Says-No-113283974.html

In announcing Jason Garrett as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys last week, owner and general manager Jerry Jones told reporters that Garrett would have final say over all matters of personnel. Most observers around town, of course, will believe it when they see it.

This includes Deion Sanders, who, in a recent appearance on the “Ben & Skin Show” on ESPN Radio, openly doubted the likelihood of this ever happening to any degree.

“No,” Sanders said, per the Dallas Morning News. “Not once so ever. First of all, ladies and gentlemen and the children listening who should be in school right now, let's get this straight: I spend hundreds, hundreds, hundreds of millions, my franchise is worth billions, and you're going to think that I'm going to allow someone else to call shots in my kitchen? Have you lost your mind?”

Echoing the sentiments of many, Sanders continued that Jones’ assertion that he’d give Garrett such power was merely a media relations nicety, the sort of endeavor that Jones has perfected in his time as the owner of the most visible football team on the planet.

“Jerry plays great games,” he said. “Jerry has more games than Toys R Us.”

If it's in the contract, then he will.

If it's not in the contract, then I think it's just a matter of success. If things are going well, probably. If they aren't, Jerry won't tolerate it for long.

Deion has a bruised ego. He despises the fact he not in Jerry's "My Circle" of former players. I cant recall the last time he has a beat on this Cowboys team.

No, Deion is in fact, stupid.

I don't know.

I'd say Deion has an informed opinion. He knows Jerry. Just because I don't like his answer doesn't make him dumb.

I hope he's wrong. What worries me is, check the presser, Jerry evades the question of whether it's in the contract.

But if Deion doesn't think the way the staff is being look at is all Garrett, then I would strongly disagree with him.

I've heard people question if it's actually in the contract. Aren't all contracts reviewed by the NFL? Would Jerry say that if it's something that is bound to get out and come back as a complete lie down the road? Especially if things go bad in the next few years. You'd have to think he's risking what little credibility he has left with the fanbase by doing something like that.

He did give a wink and say that the owner has the right to change his mind, or something like that.

I don't doubt it's in the contract for a second, what I doubt is, is that Jerry can make it work with Jason throwing what power he does have around, especially if things get a little rocky in the win loss column.

He didn't say in was in the contract. He said that was how they would operate and he would spare us the details of that area of the contract.

Maybe it's in there, maybe it isn't. I honestly don't know.

Neither does anybody else.

You can take his vagueness one of two ways.

1) It's not in the contract or he would have told us so to emphasize his point.

2) It is in the contract but it's too much of a shot to his ego to announce it.

I don't know. I'll just be glad when my football team never has to deal with that lunatic again. That day's coming.

I watched the presser, I'm not sure what I thought I heard then. That troubles me.

Watch it again, if you want. He doesn't say it. He dances around it.

JJT says it is not in the contract. How he would know, I don't know.

Yes, we know.

Anybody who says something positive about the Cowboys - smart.

Anybody who says something negative about the Cowboys - dumb.

You forgot:

I wish the media would rely less on the Deions, Faulks, and even Irvin's of the world to cover the league.

I prefer less flash, and more intelligent substance. In it's short existance, the NFL Network has dropped considerably in quality. Like ESPN, I can only take it in small doses now.
