With the salary cap most likely coming back and Dallas needing to create some salary cap there are two wild cards with big contracts. Actually their huge contract for 2012, Terence Newman and Roy Williams.

Who do you keep?

You keep Newman, no doubt about it...far better player

That said, I thought I read where releasing RW doesnt save any cap room...

Newman's deal does save us some space if he is released, but I'd turn around and re-sign him to a more cap friendly deal the next day...he doesnt have to clear waivers

If it came down to RW or TN, I'd shed RW, based on our depth at receiver in comparison to our depth at CB.

Williams............ Handful of guys could most likely make up for what production he provides. With Bryant, Austin, Witten primary targets, two - three looks a game is not hard to replace.

As bad as Newman has looked at times he still better than our current status of option B.

Roy, easy.

It's not that I'm averse to showing Newman the door, but I'm afraid that we'd do that only to go after Asomugha.

I'd rather roll with the corners we have and go after someone like Cullen Jenkins and get a serviceable safety (I hear Elam's name tossed around a bit). Fix the front seven and watch teh miracle of a resurrected secondary.

We can spread RW's cap hit over two seasons and save more money overall if we release him this year instead of next year.

But will they do that?

If it is me, I am not paying RW another 5 million base salary to underachieve. Jerry may want to keep him around for another season because of everything that has been invested already into RW. All of the press from the Cowboys website has been harping on the cap number and making it seem like Jerry would not let him go.

The question of the thread is who to cut, and I would cut RW because I know we can work around his horrible cap number.
