Why have the Government fund stem cell research when the private sector could do it better? Just make sure it isn't killing babies and I'm all for it. But don't put the brakes on it by having the Government do it.

Why have the Government fund stem cell research when the private sector could do it better? Just make sure it isn't killing babies and I'm all for it. But don't put the brakes on it by having the Government do it.

The private sector only invests in areas that are deemed profitable. I would just guess that many of the stem cell ideas at this stage aren't viewed as sure enough things to invest. As a result, if you are a smaller research company it's probably hard to get real funding from the private sector because you don't really have anything to show in terms of previous advancement, regardless of how good your idea at this time might be.

I don't see why both areas couldn't invest.
