There's a good chance Von Miller won't last past the top five picks in April's draft, but since we've gotten questions about Miller's potential place in a 3-4 defense (and because he just ran a blazing 4.49 at his pro day) let's address the Texas A&M linebacker.
Miller's listed measurables have varied, but he's around 6-foot-2 and checked in at 246 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine. Pass rush is one of his greatest skills, which would ideally slot him as an outside linebacker.
246 pounds is more an inside linebacker size, similar to Bradie James (245), Keith Brooking (242) and Sean Lee (242). The Cowboys' outside starters, DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer, are more in the 260-pound range. But another outside guy, Victor Butler, is 246 pounds.
Maybe Miller could play anywhere. He certainly has the speed and range to be a sideline-to-sideline guy inside.
As it relates to the Cowboys, it's probably moot. Doubtful he drops to No. 9 anyway. But right now it's worth kicking around.
