What do the Dallas Cowboys have in common with Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland , Detroit, Houston, Kansas City , Miami and Washington?

They are in a distinct minority: Clubs that have not reached a conference-championship game since 1996.

A total of 23 teams have played in at least one conference-championship game since 1996. Each of the final eight clubs in this year's tournament has been there at least once, with six of the clubs having made multiple appearances. New England leads with six conference-championship appearances since 1996. The Patriots are followed by Pittsburgh with five appearances, Green Bay with three and Atlanta , Baltimore and the New York Jets with two each.

The point of this? The Cowboys may act like an upper-tier club and charge prices like an upper-tier club, but they have not been an upper-tier club for a long time

Right.

The idea of the Dallas Cowboys being a top tier NFL team is nothing more than an illusion anymore. We are actually one of the worst franchises in the NFL.

Thank the guy who just wants to win. ~wink~

That blows my mind.

It's a testament to the parity in this league that 22 of 32 teams have played in the CC games during a 15 year period.

And it's a testament to low we've sunk as a franchise that we're not one of the teams to have made it.

I swear though, I really felt like last year was our year. Now, when I look back on it, I'm wondering if it was all smoke & mirrors.

The win over the Saints seemed huge at the time, but they went on to lose 3 straight.

We weren't terribly impressive against a bad Redskins team (17-0).

And we matched up perfectly against an Eagles team with a bad offensive line with a washed up QB.

Going into Minnesota, I thought we were doing what it took to get to the Super Bowl. Peaking at the right time, and relatively healthy.

Minnesota game started out alright. Farve was blindsided by an unblocked Ware. And then, either on the next play or a few plays later (it's a blur now), Farve just threw that prayer pass to Rice an instant before getting hit by Spencer, Sensabaugh forgot to look for the ball, and well... the rest is history.

I'm off on sort of a tangent. But yeah, sucks the state our team is in.
