Welcome to a tense Monday in Washington
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 24, 2011, 9:49 AM EDT

One week after suffering the worst loss of Week Six, the Redskins lost convincingly to the one-win Panthers.

This Redskins season is starting to remind us of last season, complete with the quarterback change and growing injury concerns. Washington is waiting to hear back results of an MRI on Tim Hightower’s knee Monday.

ESPN980 reports that the Redskins “strongly believe” Hightower has a torn ACL. Hightower was far more optimistic after the game, but will wait for test results. Receiver Santana Moss also broke his hand and will be out for an undetermined amount of time.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan was not pleased about his team’s performance, and let it show on the podium when someone asked who the team’s starting quarterback would be this week.

“Are you joking?” Shanahan tersely asked. “Next question.”

Funny. I was listening to the Monday Morning Quarterback with Kevin Sheehan and whomever his co-host is. It was like listening to Hostile and Dbair talk football.

Fans were calling in complaining, and they the hosts were just shooting down any notion that the team had issues. It was all homeristic spins. Lose by 13 points to a 1-5 team? Yeah... but they're a REALLY good 1-5 team! Beck miss open receivers? Yeah... but man can he run a boot leg. Defense get run over for a second straight week? Yeah... but that's because they're afraid of athletic QB's - won't happen anymore.

Everything is fine and dandy in Washington.

The Redskins are not and never were any good this season.

If Rex Grossman is option 1 and John Beck is option 2 then you are screwed.

I'm just glad they won (or will win) just enough games to have no chance at Andrew Luck. Still it will suck if they take Matt Barkley or Robert Griffin. I have no problem if they take Landry Jones (sorry bonecrusher).

Maybe not. You have the Colts and the Dolphins. One of those two will get Luck and the other Barkley or Griffith. Then I think Seattle will suck enough to get Barkley and have him re-united with Carrol. I think the Cardinals and the Cheifs will be looking for a QB.

lol I agree...I love my Sooners but I won't homer up for a player if I think he can't play in the NFL and I don't think Landry can..

I've read a respectable draftnik (dont recall who) say that Luck is the class of the draft, but that Landry is every bit as good as Bradford.
