Related itemsHere's what I saw Wednesday night during the Cowboys' training camp practice at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington:

• CB Orlando Scandrick, having just agreed to a five-year contract extension for $26 million, had a good practice. He intercepted a deep pass down the sideline from Stephen McGee and later blocked a 31-yard field goal attempt by Shayne Graham . Late in team drills, Scandrick had a would-be sack of Tom Brandstater.

• The Cowboys practiced several trick plays early in team drills. They ran a double-reverse to WR Kevin Ogletree. They had tried two previous double-reverses in training camp and fumbled both.

• WR Dez Bryant fumbled after catching a short pass in the right flat. Not long afterward, Bryant beat CB Alan Ball deep to the right corner of the end zone for a touchdown pass from Tony Romo in 1-on-1 drills. Bryant beat safety Gerald Sensabaugh in 1-on-1 drills but Romo's pass was well short. Bryant did have a drop late in team drills.

• TE Jason Witten beat safety Abram Elam on a double move in 1-on-1 drills. Later in 7-on-7 drills, Elam intercepted a pass over the middle from QB Stephen McGee.

• Other than the one blocked field goal, Shayne Graham was 3-for-3 with makes from 31, 35 and 42 yards. Undrafted rookie Dan Bailey made both of his attempts from 35 and 42 yards.

• WR Lyle Leong had two drops and WR Dwayne Harris also had a drop. Later, Harris made a great catch along the sideline against CB Mario Butler in team drills.

• LB DeMarcus Ware had a would-be sack of Stephen McGee in team drills.

• CB Mike Jenkins had a pass breakup in team drills against QB Stephen McGee in team drills.

• LB Keith Brooking intercepted a pass over the middle from Stephen McGee in team drills.

• FB Shaun Chapas dropped a short pass to the left side in 7-on-7 drills from Tony Romo.

• LB Brandon Williams had a would-be sack of Tom Brandstater in team drills. Later, Williams had a would-be sack of Tony Romo.

• LB Alex Albright had a would-be sack against QB Jon Kitna in team drills.

• WR Lyle Leong ran the wrong route late in team drills. Leong ran a go-route when the pass was a quick out, allowing safety Abram Elam an easy interception.

• Rookie OL Tyron Smith and Bill Nagy stayed after practice to work with offensive line coach Hudson Houck and former Cowboys standout OL Larry Allen.

Todd Archer's practice observations

By Todd Archer

** David Buehler did some light kicking on the side during practice and said he hopes to do more Thursday as he comes back from a hip strain. It is unlikely he will be able to play Saturday at Minnesota.

** Lonyae Miller has had a problem with fumbles in recent days. He put two on the turf Wednesday, with the first coming on inside run drills and the second in team drills. The second would have been wiped out by a presnap penalty by the offense, but they still ran the play. WR Dez Bryant also had a fumble on a bubble screen.

** S Abram Elam had an active practice, coming up with two interceptions of QB Stephen McGee. He beat Tysson Poots to a spot on a slant and then took advantage of an apparent bad route run by Lyle Leong for the second one. He also would have delivered a blow-up hit of TE Martin Rucker on a pass down the seam.

** CB Mike Jenkins, practicing for the first time at Cowboys Stadium after coming back from a stinger, fell awkwardly after breaking up a deep ball to Raymond Radway and did not take another rep in one-on-one drills. He did not appear to miss a snap in team drills as he worked back into the lineup.

** WR Curtis Clay had the catch of the day, hauling in a Tony Romo deep ball on a stutter-go down the sideline on CB Bryan McCann. McCann was in good position, but Clay caught the ball with his left hand before going out of bounds.

** FB Shaun Chapas can’t afford mistakes in the race for a roster spot. He dropped a Romo swing pass in team drills but came back later with a good grab in the flat.

** Kitna was shaking his right hand and looking at his fingers after a defensive lineman grabbed Kitna’s arm as he was throwing. That’s a major no-no. Quarterbacks are not supposed to be touched.

** Bryant successfully executed a double reverse with WR Kevin Ogletree. His first two attempts in camps ended up in fumbles because he was flipping the ball too fast and far.

** WR Dwayne Harris was a big part of the first team offense’s work Wednesday. His best grab came on the sideline when he took in a Romo throw after out-jumping CB Mario Butler for the completion.

** QB Tom Brandstater had what might have been his best throw of camp with a deep crossing pass to Leong that was just over the arms of LB Keith Brooking.
