Should the Cowboys follow the Patriots lead?

There's an interesting storyfrom ESPN's James Walker, the AFC North Blogger, about Washington quarterback Jake Locker making a two-day visit to the New England Patriots starting today.
Of course the Patriots have one Tom Brady at quarterback. But Brady is 33 and his contract ends in 2014. Brady can't play forever, so the Patriots are looking into drafting a quarterback and Locker is projected as a mid-first round selection.
The Cowboys' Tony Romo is 30 and he's signed through 2013. He will be in his mid-30s when it ends and we assume the Cowboys will give him a new deal. With the Patriots possibly thinking of the future, should the Cowboys do the same at the quarterback position?
Currently the Cowboys have Jon Kitna and Stephen McGee as backups. Kitna might be in his last year with the team and McGee needs more playing time in the preseason to determine if he's good enough to be a backup.
Since 2000, the Cowboys have drafted just three quarterbacks, Quincy Carter is out of the league, Isaiah Stanback, was switched to wide receiver and he eventually was released and ended up going back to quarterback while in New England for a spell. McGee is the other quarterback.
The Patriots?
They've drafted seven quarterbacks including drafting Brady in the sixth round in 2000. One of those quarterbacks, Matt Cassel, ended up starting for Brady when he suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 1 of the 2008 season.
You can't play forever, but shouldn't the Cowboys at least think about the position a little more this spring? They haven't held any private workouts for any quarterback this spring and did express an interest in Cam Newton, but that might have been a smoke screen.
Romo is still a good quarterback and shouldn't be replaced. It's worth noting since 2007, the first time Romo was able to start a full season as the starting quarterback, he's missed more time due to injury than any quarterback in the NFC East with 13.
Donovan McNabb has missed just four games to injury, Eli Manning missed none and Jason Campbell was lost for three games to injury.
