SAN ANTONIO -- The Cowboys have signed seven free agents and the financial latitude to make those acquisitions was created, in part, by players such as outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware.
On Thursday, Ware said he has restructured his contract.
"The process is already finished," Ware explained. "I don't want to get into any numbers or anything like that. It's done. I did whatever I needed to do to help the team."
Ware's cap number is $11.3 million and if the Cowboys cut it by the maximum amount they could reduce the figure to $5.9 million. Along with Ware, wide receiver Miles Austin and quarterback Tony Romo -- who have been awarded some of the heftiest contracts on the team -- are expected to rework their deals.
The team's executive vice president Stephen Jones said earlier in the week that restructuring the contracts is a "work in progress" and that the players involved have been aware of the Cowboys' intentions for a while.
Teams around the league have to be under the $120.4 million salary cap by 3:01 p.m. today.
