Veteran Cowboys LB Bradie James asked to play special teams and now he's doing it

By
Brandon George / Reporter

IRVING -- Cowboys veteran linebacker Bradie James, one of the team's captains, recently approached special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis and the coaching staff about helping out on special teams.

James - in his ninth season with the Cowboys - hasn't played on special teams since early in his career, but on Monday night against Washington James was on the team's kickoff coverage unit twice.

James declined to comment Wednesday about his conversation with DeCamillis about playing on special teams.

James' playing time has decreased this season with second-year linebacker Sean Lee starting and James sharing time with veteran Keith Brooking.

I like it. I like guys doing what they can to help the team.

No doubt.. Bradie has always been that guy. Its part of the reason i simply don't get all the hate for him, except that some fans just have to have someone to hate at all times and because he didn't play his usual amount or register a tackle in the first game, all of a sudden he's garbage and should be cut and he rapes little kids, etc..

Bradie said to babe after the game that this team has better chemistry than any team he has ever been on and he will do anything to help them win..

I have a ton of videos to put up and will try to get them up tomorrow.

Great news. It starts from the top Ryan and Garrett instills it.

Get working on those videos.

He's not the player he was, which disappoints me. He had a great year in... I want to say it was '08, when Wade incorporated a lot of the 4-6. Pretty sure he had 8 sacks that year. I expected similar results this year.

But I like Bradie, and I'm glad he's stepping up and trying to find a role on this team despite his lack of playing time. It's the right attitude to have, especially when you compare it to other seasoned veterans in the past who bitched and moaned when they lost playing time. *cough*Greg Ellis*cough*

Other than the first game, he's not playing considerably less than he was in the past. If you watch closely, he's on the field a majority of the time. Maybe not 80 percent of the snaps, but at least 60 i'd say. He's not done yet.. and i would bet he'll be back next year too.
