Archer: Is Sunday already a must win for the Cowboys?

05:43 PM CDT on Monday, September 13, 2010
Todd Archer / Reporter
Is Week 2 too early for a must-win game?

Probably but Wade Phillips raised the sense of urgency of his team today when he met with the players. He accepted the blame for the end-of-half miscue and he told them how important it is to return to form Sunday against Chicago.

"We've got to do better, no matter what," Phillips said. "To get better we've got to attack the mistakes we made and not just go over the mistakes we made but attack the mistakes we made. And we've got to hold together as a team. It's not the end of the world. It seemed like it at the time and I feel like it today, but it's not. We can bounce back from this and we've got to, to have a good team this year that we want to have. We've got to bounce back this week and pick up the pieces and go forward. The only thing you can do anything about is this ballgame and we've got to do something about it. And we've got to do something about it right now."

The Cowboys haven't lost their first two games of a season since 2001 when they finished 5-11. The last time they went 0-2 and made the playoffs came in 1993 when they were missing Emmitt Smith, who was in a contract dispute. Oh, yeah, that team went on to win Super Bowl XXVIII.

That last fact is nice, but, there ain't no Emmitt Smith on this team. LOL.. This team goes 0-2, and the suicide watch in Dallas and around the world better be on.

I don't understand why Wade does this shit. Takes responsibility for shit he didn't do. It's just nonsense.

Hey there! Don't let sbk hear you say that.

Because Wade is in a no-win situation. If he doesn't take responsibility, then this would be proof positive for the Wade bashers of how he supposedly doesn't hold players accountable because he himself will not take responsibility.

I don't like everything either of these guys do. Jerry or Wade. But, it is what it is. My 4 yr old pisses me off from time to time too. But, he is still my 4yr old.

Get so sick of all the "Fire Wade!!!", Jerry must Go". And it's only WEEK 1.

Wade is the head coach and the final outcome is his responsibility. He should've trumped Garrett and told Romo to take a knee. He didn't have the balls to do it and here we are. I kinda feel sorry for the fat turd because he is in a no-win situation with the offense. If he tells Garrett what to do he is trying to clip the wings of his heir apparent, but every time he lets Garrett do something stupid he is to blame for not taking control of his own team.

Too many people want to give Wade all the blame for the bad things on this team and none of the credit for the good things.

Wow, are you an idiot.

Hey, he's the coach and he's the owner. So you have to think they're good.

It's the mentality of a 5 year old.

I think he's speaking more towards those out there, like yourself, who bash Wade and Jerry no matter what they do.

You never blindly cheer for someone, but if you're a fan of a team, there's nothing wrong with supporting the coach, owner, and team in general. Especially when that coach is doing a pretty good job.

And you are a whining maggot. Like the 5 yr olds ass I am kicking up and down the sandbox. taking your milk money.

Waa, Waaa, This happened. JIt's Jerry's fault!!,, This happened , it's all WADE'S fault!!! Waaa fucking waa..

You are so clueless. Never did I state that NEITHER could do no wrong, Completely the opposite. ALOT has been done wrong by both. But, they are the coach and the owner. I don't like my boss. SHould I bitch and moan until he quits? Or, do I quit? Or, Do I just nut up realize the facts and hope things get better. Which they have, and will continue.

You are still probably one of these jackasses that thinks Jimmie Johnson was the WHOLE reason Dallas did what it did in the 90's. Not giving Jerry one single credit for , well, number one., HIRING Johnson, at a time when Hiring college coaches was a real gamble., Keeping Aikman while Johnson liked Walsh more. I could go on and on. But, I know you are gonna need time to google the History of the Dallas cowboys in the 90's. They have it on DVD now too., learn up ..

All Jerry did was hire Jimmy.

Which wasn't a great spot of talent, but simple dumb luck that his college roommate was an all timer coach. He tried to do the same thing with Switzer to laughable results.

Jerry had no other hand whatsoever in building that dynasty. None. Less than none. You had as much to do with putting those players together as Jerry did. If you don't already know this by what happened in the ten years after Jimmy left, then you're an idiot not worth my time.

Read up on the history of this team and that era. Tell Jimmy or anyone on his staff that Jerry had a hand in personnel those years and they'll laugh you out of the room. That's exactly the reason why he left the team.

Once Jerry fixed the finances, he decided he knew personnel.

Jimmy decided this guy's a f'n ego driven asshat and bolted.

Wise move by his hairness.

I just want to make it clear.

I give Jerry zero, wait...in ******......ZERO, credit for that dynasty.

If it was possible to take away credit I would. That's how zeroish it is.

And let's go one more.....

I also give Jerry ZERO credit for the team turning itself around from the 5-11 days.

I know who was responsible there. The same guy who shats wins wherever he goes. Not the guy who had already been here for years running the team into the dirt. He didn't all of a sudden get smart after bringing in someone to clean up his mess.

So ZERO for the 90's and more ZERO for the team at least contending a little today.

Great,

Start cheering for the Texans at any time now you fucking moron. Jerry had no help in that, get real.

I understand your hatred for Jerry, cool, probably still crying in your corn flakes that Jimmy is gone. But....

What happened in Miami? What did Jimmy do then? Nothing.

You are better off ignoring my shit, as I am you. Because, I get dumber and dumber reading the shit you spew.
