President-Elect Trump Not Ruling Out Military Action to Acquire Panama Canal, Greenland​

During a wide-ranging news conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate, President-elect Trump refuses to rule out military or economic action in order to acquire the Panama Canal and Greenland, saying, "We need them for economic security... The Panama Canal is vital to our country. It's being operated by China, China. We gave the Panama Canal to Panama. We didn't give it to China." He also criticizes former President Jimmy Carter for giving away the Panama Canal, calling it "a big mistake" and saying it was likely the main reason, along with the Iran hostages crisis, behind Carter losing the 1980 election to Ronald Reagan

So he would start a war with Panama pushing them further into the arm of China to get back the Panama Canal? And that is a good thing?

Getting back control of the canal cannot be accomplished by force. Otherwise we will be defending the canal with the military forever. It has to be done by agreement, even if we need to pay Panama to get it back. Yes, it was a stupid mistake by Jimmy DoRight but if Panama has not lived up to the original agreement then we need to do something.
