Bears | Marc Trestman to become new head coach
Tue, 15 Jan 2013 23:23:01 -0800

The Chicago Bears will hire Marc Trestman as their new head coach, according to an NFL source. Trestman was the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes since 2008 and led the team to three Grey Cup appearances and two titles during his five-year run.

Well this sucks for us:

Chicago Sun-Times reporting Trestman is likely to retain Rod Marinelli in #Bears' DC role, which would -- to me -- be the correct decision.

Of course he is. He's a puppet HC doing what he is told.

They fired Lovie Smith for a CFL guy who's a NFL reject at this point.

No wonder Red still has a job. There's no one out there to replace him with.

Bears | Tim Brown a critic of Marc Trestman
Wed, 16 Jan 2013 10:06:36 -0800

Former NFL WR Tim Brown said he has doubts whether Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman will succeed with his new team. Brown played under Trestman, who once served as offensive coordinator with the Oakland Raiders. Brown wonders whether Trestman has the leadership skills to lead an NFL team. "(There's a lot more to coaching than just Xs and Os," Brown said. "You have to be able to deal with players and that's the reason (former Oakland Raiders head coach) Bill Callahan hasn't succeeded as a head coach. Because he's a smart guy, knows football like the back of his hand, but when it comes to leading (men), it's a totally different intangible you have to have. It's going to be very interesting to see how (Trestman) and Jay Cutler get along, that's for sure."

It just keeps getting funnier:

Bears | Several CFL coaches could join staff
Thu, 17 Jan 2013 12:16:50 -0800

The Chicago Bears may be interested in adding Montreal Alouettes offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Pat Meyer, Alouettes special teams coach and running backs coach Andy Bischoff and Toronto Argonauts head coach Scott Milanovich to their coaching staff. The Bears have offered Meyer a spot on their coaching staff.

It's not surprising that he's filling his staff with coaches he knows.

It will be interesting to see what happens if they change defensive schemes and suddenly can't be top 5 in the league in turnovers every year any more. but if they can keep that going, and get the offense moving they'll be great. idk why everyone is killing them. Football is football for the most part and this guy was lighting up the CFL.
