Trent Dilfer thinks the Cowboys are still going to have a good season

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the herd this AM. He stated that the defense is still very good, and that the offense in particular will come around. He is a big believer in Romo. Thinks the Cowboys have more than ten wins.:wha? Said he thinks the Vikings are done. Said Farve looks disinterested and old, and the right side of thei O Line cant block anybody.

It wouldn't suprise me to see us turn it around.

10 wins is very reasonable for this team, if they get their heads out of their asses.

In fact . . . it wouldn't shock me if we went 9-3 down the stretch to end up 11-5 again.

@ Houston, New York Giants x2, @ Green Bay, and @ Indy are the most worrisom games, IMO.

That's what I predicted us to go 11-5.

While, for the mental part of me, that would rule.

But, 11-5, just gets Wade and Co. another shot for next season.

It would just drive me nuts to go through this season struggling.

I voted 13-3 or better. The chances of that happening look very slim. Though on that thread I did say that I really did not know what the Cowboys record would be at the end of the regular season and that I voted for 13-3 or better because I like to hope for the best.

It comes right back to Garrett. Yeah I know the not taking a knee with 4 seconds left in the half against the Redskins that led to a TD, and then the pooched kick against the Bears; they both were stupid moves. But are you telling me that this team is not talented enough to overcome dumb mistakes like these that occur with every team in every game essentially?

We are all pissed over those two plays because we feel that had those two plays not occured, we would have won those two games. But has anyone of us actually considered as to why it even came down to those two plays in the first place? That the real culprit is Garrett's inability to score more than ONE OFFENSIVE TD with this assemblage of talent. I know, I know... yes we can blame part of the Oline or can we? Naturally, you are going to have problems when 4/5ths of your starting Oline is 32 and older. For the life of me, I do not know why Jones thinks that he could take this team to the Super Bowl with such an Oline, that consists of OLD, lazy, overweight, out of shape, uninspired, undisciplined, oft-injured, and content players---and those are jus tthe starters. Then to have them backed up by a bunch of UDFAs. Does he really think that Garrett is that good of an OC along with Hudson Houck, that they could overcome the inadequacies of most important aspect of the offense?

Look. Last year, our offense was #2 in yards---with this current Oline. So basically we had not problem moving the ball up and down the field with this Oline. We had no problem in either the Redskins and Bears' game with this Oline and the offense moving the ball up and down the field. It's when we approached the red zone, is when the drive got stalled. It happend last year, and the year before, and now this year. 2007 was the exception, because as we all know, it was Sparano. Sparano was not ONLY coaching the Oline---interesting as to how when he left, that also went to shit, but as we later found out, he was also calling the plays, and not the Red-Head Wile E. Coyote Suuuuuuuuuuuperrrrrrrrr Geeeeeeeeeeniussss.

So does the Oline get bad when it approaches the red zone? It's to the point now, that teams are like, "let the Cowboys move the ball up the field against us. When they approach the red zone, they are going to stall any way, and with no help from us doing it."

Garrett's the problem. Unfortunately, nothing can be done at this moment. But God help us if he becomes the HC.
