Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will soon unveil the refurbished Pleasant Grove field, which was made over by Starter athletic brand and will be home to 300 middle- and high school students in the Dallas area. Romo -- who missed the last 10 games of Dallas' 6-10 season with a broken left collarbone -- talked to SI.com's Jimmy Traina about the event and a variety of subjects.

SI.com: Is it hard to watch the Super Bowl come to Dallas after the rough season you guys had?

Romo: Yeah. You're excited that the NFL is bringing a Super Bowl to Dallas, but you're disappointed that you're not a part of it. It's just extra motivation to make sure you're playing in a Super Bowl next time.

SI.com: How are you doing?

Romo: I feel good. I've been ready to go for a couple of weeks. Usually after every season, you take time to recover from bumps and bruises, but I'm ready to go.

SI.com: What would you like to see the Cowboys do in the offseason to improve?

Romo: I'll just tell you this: We're going to have a good team next year. I wouldn't bet against us. I feel very strongly about our team. Whether or not there's a collective bargaining agreement, we're going to be strong and we're going to have people out on the field consistently every week. We're going be doing things that hopefully allow us to have an advantage.

SI.com: How do you feel about the proposed 18-game regular-season schedule?

Romo: I just want everyone to agree either way.

SI.com: So you wouldn't have a problem with it?

Romo: I love the game, I love playing the game. I know it definitely increases the risk factor for injury. I also don't line up and play D-line, where your body takes a pounding. So you get a different perspective depending on who you talk to. But I think everyone needs to slowly come to a conclusion on that and figure it out.

SI.com: Will you be at the game on Sunday?

Romo: I went back and forth on that, and I would be more upset watching the game being played in our home stadium, so I'm not going to be at the game. I'll probably be at my house with a couple of people watching the game.

SI.com: What are you like when you watch a game? Do you need everyone to be quiet? Do you mind people talking?

Romo: I wouldn't say I'm too extreme. I'm pretty boring. I watch the game a little bit differently. I don't necessarily follow the ball. I'm looking at the defense and what different coverages they're using and how people are moving. I'm just rooting for a good game and just hoping Dallas can show they did a great job hosting the Super Bowl.

SI.com: Any predictions for this game?

Romo: I'll tell you what, the other playoff games were easier to pick. This one is tough. You have two great teams and it's going be a good football game.

SI.com: The Hollywood Reporter recently did a poll where you were voted the fifth-most disliked NFL player behind Brett Favre, Michael Vick, Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger. Do you have any reaction to that?

Romo: Nah. That stuff probably came as a result of others teams that have lots of fans.

SI.com: What did you make of the recent Jay Cutler controversy in which NFL players ripped him for coming out of the NFC title game?

Romo: I really don't want to talk about that subject.

SI.com: I had a question about Ben Roethlisberger ...

Romo: I don't want to talk about that, either.

SI.com: You seem reluctant to talk about other players and controversial subjects. You were also heavily criticized during your relationship with Jessica Simpson. Did that teach you how to handle the media and did you learn things from that?

Romo: Over time you realize that nothing good comes from talking. At the end of the day, you have an idea of what you want to do as a reporter so you're going to try to angle questions in a certain manner, which is good and that makes you good at your job. But nothing good can come of me talking about subjects of that matter. You just learn over time that it's about playing football and winning football games. Everything else just minimizes that.

SI.com: You've been in Hot Clicks many times. Two specific instances were when you sang Don't Stop Believin' and Sweet Child O'Mine with the band Metal Skool. Are you a big karaoke guy or do you just like performing with them?

Romo: I love '80s rock. Guns N' Roses, Van Halen, AC/DC. I enjoy that kind of music. I know the guys in that band. They used to be called Metal Skool, but now they're called Steel Panther. They're just great guys. Humble, down to earth and good at what they do.

SI.com: Have you joined them on stage recently?

Romo: No, no, I haven't performed lately. The older I get, the more I try to just watch.

SI.com: You recently got engaged. Will you perform at your wedding?

Romo: We'll see. You never know. I'm going to have something in the works.

SI.com: The Jets generated a lot of press this season, partly because of Hard Knocks. The Cowboys were featured on the show in the past. Would you want to be part of it again? Do you think it's a positive or negative?

Romo: I think it has little to no impact on what a team's outcome will be. You can say there are some benefits and some negatives. You have more people coming to practice to watch and there are cameras filming, so you might give more effort during the dog days of training camp sometimes. My position is easy. Quarterback is fun. Some guys really grind at training camp, especially the big boys, and they have to hit and it's hard work. Just having cameras around can maybe help you give that effort you may not have. In that regard, it's a positive. The other part is, people can get into fights and things of that nature.

SI.com Since we're talking TV shows, I'm going to ask you about a few others. Do you watch the Jersey Shore?

Romo: I've never seen it.

SI.com: Friday Night Lights?

Romo: Yeah, I love Friday Night Lights.

SI.com: What else is on your DVR?

Romo: Eastbound and Down. I like Gossip Girl. My fiancée's brother [Chase Crawford] is on the show.

SI.com: What was the last movie you saw?

Romo: Social Network. It was great. One of the better movies I've seen this year.

SI.com: Are you on Facebook or Twitter?

Romo: No. I'm not on either. I don't want to talk to people more. You need your privacy sometimes.

SI.com: Lastly, tell me about the field you plan on donating in Dallas.

Romo: We're giving a field to an underprivileged, under-economic, for lack of a better term, area in Dallas. Starter has refurbished and donated a new soccer and football field for all the kids. Five schools will share the field in the local Dallas area. It's a great cause and it's super to be a part of it.
