IRVING – Tony Romo held his weekly interview session Wednesday at Valley Ranch and the Dallas Cowboys struggling run game was obviously a popular topic.

With the Cowboys throwing the ball 52 more times than they have run it through two games, Romo was asked about checking into passing plays at the line of scrimmage.

“It’d be silly just to run the ball to where you can’t block an extra guy,” Romo explained. “That’s part of the game. When some people are doing that, they’re leaving Dez [Bryant] by himself.

“It’s part of what defenses have to decide — what they’re going to give up — and sometimes it can be a big benefit.”

Romo continues to say that the Cowboys would like to run the ball more, but he’s going to take what the defense is giving him. The franchise quarterback doesn’t see any sense in running the ball more often when opponents are stuffing the box.

On top of that, Cowboys starting running back DeMarco Murray hasn’t been given many running lanes this season, made evident by his 2.1 yards per carry Sunday in Kansas City and 3.5 yards per carry on the season.

So how does the run-blocking improve?

“I think it’s a combination of things,” Romo said. “Run-blocking really takes all 11 guys. … I think we can do a better job individually and then collectively as a group. Everyone will get better.”

Go fuck yourself, Romo. You loser ass bitch.

While I wouldn't put it quite that way, I am getting tired of Romo as well.

It seems at times he's a company man.

Like Jerry, I think he doesn't understand what it takes to win.

You can do what it looks like you think what winners do...but it just comes up short at the end of the day.

I'm on board. Fuck this guy.

I said it at least a year ago. Time for this team to build around a new core

But...but...Clint Stoerner! Quincy Carter! Chad Hutchinson! Vinny! Drew Bledsoe!

That is what thing this franchise does....

It is so incompetent that it trusts whatever nugget of gold they find.

That's why Jerry hands out money as soon as anyone shows they can play.

It is because they know...deep down...they can't get lucky in the talent acquisition department forever.

It is like they take their shots.

Welcome aboard.

Really though... Sorry to say it again, but this is why you bring in a Holmgren or Chuckie or someone who knows what it takes. Not someone groping and guessing and spouting cliches.

It may already be too late for Romo. Sure hope not.

Obviously I don't want Romo hurt or anything, that would be a waste of however much I'm paying for Sunday ticket, but I really do want Jerry dead and fire crotch gone.

The problem with some of what he said though is they'd come to the line, and Romo would have a run play called against an 8 or 9 man front too. Also if he were making audible calls correctly, why did he stick with so many dink and dunk plays when it was obvious there was no safety help deep on guys like Austin or Terrance Williams (or in a lot of cases, Dez)

I think part of the issue is Romo ISNT good at reading defenses. He audibles into a lot of bad calls, and many times also sticks with bad calls when he should be making a change.

I think the playbook is just shit. Audible from shit to shit.

How often does Dez go into motion to try and open things up for him?

This offense is easily one of the worst fucking offenses in the NFL. There was a point in time on the sideline where Romo looked frustrated as all hell with something he was talking to Garrett about. I don't know what it was but I'm just going to pretend like Romo was telling Jason that he's a ginger fag and that his playbook sucks.

Yeah, that's definitely some of it as well. The whole thing just needs to be blown up (playbook, scheme etc etc) and start over.

LOL

I think so about the playbook, too. And that's setting the Garrett hate aside for a second.

All those years we had a system where you basically count the defenders in the box and check out of a run play to a pass play if necessary. It was very simplistic. We don't know exactly what the system is now, but it's not like Tony is able to call any play out of the playbook from the line. He's still only checking into one other play, and it's possible that play isn't any good against that particular defense, either. You can tell by looking that our offense doesn't have the sophistication that a lot of others around the league do.

I think we'd be amazed at the difference if we got one of these young innovative offensive minds in here. Not that that's going to happen.

When's the last time someone busted a coverage trying to figure our offense out. Feels like you see it all the time across the league a few times a week.
