Jason Garrett the expected choice in Dallas. But Cowboys asked for, received permission to interview Dolphins asst HC Todd Bowles for HC.

Jerry probably wants him to coach the defense.

That's his excuse for the interview.

Would defensive coordinator be considered a step up from secondary coach/assistant head coach?

Would Todd Bowles be a good hire, for defensive coordinator?

I think he would, but he's not my first choice though.

No, he wouldn't be a good hire. I believe he was in Dallas during the Parcells years? He has "that" mindset IMO. Might as well keep paul for that matter. I want someone outside of the box.

DC isn't a step up from Assistant HC, which is a step below HC and above coordinator positions. Usually that's why coordinators are given that tag if the team wants to keep him away from another team's coordinator position.

It would be a good hire only for the fact that Terrence Newman doesn't like him. Remember when he complained about how Todd called coverages here?

Okay.

Well . . . Mike Nolan is the DC. Todd Bowles is the AHC/LBC.

I'm thinking Nolan has more clout, and Bowles answers to Nolan.

Therefore, wouldn't logic dictate that being a DC is a promotion?

Logic would dictate that but still he carries a greater tag. To take a coordinator under contract away from a team, you have to promote them, and the only thing higher than Assitant HC is HC.

He's the assistant head coach and linebackers coach now.

We'll make him assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.

That's a promotion.

Might be time for the message board cancer to get some chemo after that last post.
