Jason felt constricted that he couldn’t do everything he wanted to do because he wasn’t the head coach. He doesn’t have constraints now. He’s a big chain of command guy and believes in the process, we’ll see if he makes changes. I believe he will.

We the media were actually breaking the news to players about the coaching change. Garrett hasn’t addressed the players yet. There have been a lot of reports going around that a lot of the players don’t like Jason Garrett or that the defensive players feel like they’re being made the scapegoats, well you know what? A lot of the players didn’t like Wade Phillips either. Jason Garrett made it pretty clear in his press conference that he doesn’t care what the players think about him, he’s only concerned about beating the Giants. There has been too much worrying about the players feelings around here. This “Oh we got to keep him a starter, because he’s always been a starter” stuff. Jason Garrett has to show he’s a leader, not just a manager. He has to put his stamp on here Wednesday from the very first practice.

Garrett will probably change practices, but they’ve changed the way they practice so many times this year that the players probably don’t know they’re even doing anymore. There’s only so many ways you can practice. I think he’ll have a more uptempo practice that he will let players know he means business.

I’ve never seen Jerry so broken down as he was yesterday. You would ask him a question and he would say “That’s a good question” and then not answer the question. He looked disgusted after the game, and now yesterday it looks like he’s wondering if he has to change the way he operates. If this team goes 1-15, how can he say to the fans “We’re going to keep the same organizational structure we have, because it will work if we just tweak a few things”.

Jerry didn’t put a specific goal on what he wants to achieve under Garrett. There was no expected win total. He wants “ extraordinary effort”. I think if there is a fire and competitiveness in the team that would be a good sign for Garrett. There is nothing in Jason’s contract that says he’s the 2011 head coach, so even if Jerry wants to keep him as the HC he still has to go through the Rooney Rule procedures.

Unless Garrett finishes 8-0, doesn’t it all depend on what Cowher or Gruden say? If they campaign for the job, doesn’t Jerry pretty much have to take them? I don’t think it will be Gruden, because this team needs a coach who is strong with personnel ability and he showed in Tampa Bay that he’s not good with personnel evaluation. Cowher brings in the Pittsburgh organizational philosophy. But I have a feeling Jerry really wants Garrett to be the guy, and that at one point he envisioned Jason Garrett being his head coach for many, many, many years.

I think Jerry is stretched too thin with running the stadium and promoting boxing fights to also fit in GM duties. Football might be at the top of his list, but it’s probably not his priority every single day. He’ll say that it’s the way he’s always done it, but look at the results. I think the biggest thing people can hope for is bringing in a guy like Cowher and hope he does what Parcells did and bring an entire organizational philosophy and blueprint with him on how to run an organization.

I'm really rooting for Garrett to succeed.

I'm not.

I hope he is horrible these next 8 games. We have this piece of shat owner on the ropes right now. I want real change. A real personnel guy in charge. The worse we do this season, the better the chances of that happening.

Worst case scenario, the added grief another 8 debacles would give Jerry should at least shorten his life a tad.

Go G-Men.
