The Ticket's Donovan Lewis: Cowboys 24, Bears 13; Dez Bryant won't be targeted 12 times this week

06:33 PM CDT on Friday, September 17, 2010

The Ticket host Donovan Lewis answered your questions in a chat Friday. Here are some highlights.

On his prediction for the Cowboys game vs. the Bears: I said the week before that I didn't think Washington was a very good team, and I think I was proven right. I'm going to say the same thing about Chicago. This is not a very good team. And if the Cowboys correct some mistakes offensively and play like we all think they can, then they shouldn't have any problems handling the Bears, Figure out a way to block Julius Peppers and I smell victory.

On (Marc) Colombo getting abused against the Vikings last year in the playoffs and whether expectations for him are too high: That was just one game ... now I know it was the most important game of the year, but Colombo has been solid for this team for a really long time to judge him on that one performance two games back from a serious injury. That dude is the nastiest cat on that offensive line, hands down, and they need his toughness with the schedule the way it is. If he's out there, you have to anticipate he's going to be on his game ... whatever Colombo shows will be 100 times better than what rolled out in game 1.

On whether the amount of catches Dez Bryant had in Week 1 is an indication that Romo still is not clicking with Roy Williams: I think you are on to something. Everyone gave the excuse that Roy was only here for 10 games that first year ... let them get a rhythm and everything will be fine. And here comes Dez, who has only practiced, and he's targeted 12 times? Something smells and it's not my feet this time.

On whether Jason Garrett's job is in jeopardy: For this season, I think Garrett's job is secure. Now if the Cowboys keep struggling offensively or fail to make the playoffs, then after the season Jerry will have to take a deep look and see if more time is needed with this staff. Anything short of a deep playoff run and I think there has to be a coaching overhaul because the formula would need to be tweaked.

On the score for Cowboys vs. Bears : Cowboys 24, Bears 13

On the game plan the Cowboys will likely bring vs. the Bears: The Boys have got to establish the run against the Bears to slow down Julius Peppers and not have him crush Romo. I expect to see a lot more Felix out of the backfield and catching little swing passes in space to make something happen. He is one of two game-changers on the team ... along with Miles Austin, and we didn't see enough of him against Washington. Garrett has to stop subbing in and out so much and let his playmakers get a feel for the game so they can do big things. And yes, I don't see Dez being targeted 12 times this week. Balance is the name of the game. Oh and Football too.

On David Buehler's missed field goal last week: I think he will be fine. It's his first field goal attempt in a regular-season game. I'm sure he was shaking in his cleats. I think his one is out the way and he will be solid for the rest of the season. I'm not saying he's going to make every kick, but he will settle down and do his thing.
