The J6 insurrection lie is one of the biggest fabrications in American history. It ranks up there with the Gulf of Tonkin lie that got us into the Vietnam War.
Trump did not incite the riots. Trump did not sit back and let it happen. Trump was not gleeful that there was violence. These are all lies that are easily debunked, but all claimed in the J6 committee's report.
While the J6 committee focused only on the few incidents of violence, they ignored all the peaceful protests inside the Capitol. Thousands of minutes of video show people walking calmly and peacefully through the building or loitering in the chambers of congress. If the term "mostly peaceful" is to be applied to something, it should have been applied to the J6 protests. There were no fires, no looting with the exception of Pelosi's lectern and some wine she had in her desk drawer for some reason.
Democracy was never at risk. Democracy was never under attack. What people wanted was an open investigation into numerous reports of election malfeasance. That's it. No one was there to overthrow the government, which by the way at the time was headed by Trump.
The protesters did not kill any cops or anyone else for that matter. On the other hand, the facts about who was killed that day were largely ignored by Democrats and the media. Two women, unarmed, were killed that day. Ashlii Babbit was shot to death without warning by Michael Byrd, a Capitol Hill cop, and Rose Boyland was trampled to death when Capitol polices were shoving protesters away from the building. Protester pleaded with cops to help Boyland but were ignored. No one was held accountable for those deaths. In fact, Michael Byrd was clear after a quiet investigation and Democrats claimed the shooting was justified.
All of this could have been avoided if Nancy Pelosi and the Mayor of DC had given Trump what he requested, National Guard troops to help police what was expected to be large crowds of protesters in Washington.
Trump need to pardon all the J6 protesters and commute the sentences of anyone still in prison if they committed acts of violence. Trump's AG needs to investigate any acts of perjury before the J6 committee and any accusations of witness tampering or obstruction committed by committee members. Anyone who broke laws to perpetrate the lies against MAGA should be indicted, convicted and imprisoned.
