I think they made a big mistake trying to appease the wrong sector of their base. The sector that wasn't in question. While at the same time turning off centrist and moderate dem voters. In addition to the independents noted.

I don't know the details of what Walz did or didn't do. I despise when people embellish their military records though, even minor embellishments make me sick. I have friends who were killed in Vietnam and any self-serving lie by any one else to me is an insult to those who actually served in combat and gave their lives. Walz appears to have taken liberties with the truth regarding his own service record and that is despicable.

But I also saw a video of Walz talking about the 1st amendment that showed whatever oath he took when he served in the military, he did not take seriously. He claimed that the 1st amendment does not cover hate speech and "disinformation" suggesting that the government could censor this kind of speech. Clearly he has no idea what the 1st amendment is. He also claimed he is a strong supporters of the 2nd amendment, but then claimed he supported "common sense" gun control, which conflicts with the 2nd amendment and "shall not be infringed". People like Walz have no business running for office with the attitude that the constitution does not guarantee our freedom.

Walz was picked for two reasons. First and foremost, he will not overshadow Kamala Harris. He will not steal her spotlight. He will not take attention away from her as the top of the ticket. He will not outshine her on the campaign trail. The other reason is Josh Shapiro is Jewish. He is also smarter than Kamala by a mile and would look like the top of the ticket compared to her on the campaign trail.

Of course this is in some way yielding to the far left anti-Semitic wing of the Democrat party, That doesn't hurt. But I think Walz was picked because Kamala looks better compared to him.

While I understand the attention this issue is getting, it is putting the focus on Walz and Vance and not on Kamala Harris where it belongs. No one votes for the VP. They vote for the presidential candidates. Trump needs to get Kamala into the spotlight in unscripted situations. It is hard to believe we would elect a president who refuses to do unscripted interviews, or debate on Fox News, but that's where we are as a country. Biden won by hiding in his basement and they intend to do something similar with Kamala, They know if she goes off script she will sound like an idiot and her poll numbers will drop. She agree to 1 debate on ABC, and so did Trump. I think he made a mistake. He should have forced the debate on Fox with her. The more time she spends in front of a camera without a teleprompter, the better Trump will do.
