Roy Williams took the blame Thursday's loss to New Orleans.
So did Terence Newman.
"I can take just as much blame as he can,'' Newman said. "For him to put it on him, I say I'll put it on me. Knowing the situation, I've got to make a play."
"There you have it.''
Here's the situation: the Cowboys still led after Williams' fumble gave the Saints the ball. New Orleans faced a third-and-10 in their own territory.
In a similar situation earlier, Saints quarterback Drew Brees noticed that Newman stayed at the first down marker. Robert Meachem hesitated at the sticks, Newman bit and the Saints receiver blew by him.
"You know what, I didn't even see it,'' Newman said of the ball. "It was a throw, they caught it and it is what it is.
"Honestly, it's a blur. All I remember is tackling him.''
Meachem's only catch of the afternoon went for 55 yards and gave the Saints the ball on the Cowboys 12-yard line. Brees hit Lance Moore for a touchdown on the next play to regain a lead New Orleans had frittered away.
