Texans seek permission to interview Cowboys LB coach

Houston defensive coordinator Wade Phillips has made his first grab for a member of his former staff.

The Texans on Thursday asked for permission to interview Cowboys linebackers coach Reggie Herring. Houston fired its two linebacker coaches, Johnny Holland and Robert Saleh, in a staff shakeup that took place earlier in the week.

Herring joined the Cowboys staff in 2008 when Phillips was the head coach. It is believed that Phillips could also make a run for Cowboys secondary/safeties coach Brett Maxie, but as of Thursday evening the Texans had not asked for permission to speak to him.

We should get Dexter Coakley as our LB coach.

Then we could always trade him for a big time player whenever we wanted.
