LANDDOVER, Md. -- The biggest play of the Dallas Cowboys' win against the Washington Redskins was without question DeMarco Murray's 10-yard touchdown catch.

But the Cowboys would not have been in position without Terrance Williams.

The rookie receiver had the longest pass play of the day on the winning drive, hauling in a 51-yard catch from Tony Romo that took the ball from the Dallas 28 to the Washington 21.

“I looked and saw Tony Rolling my way, and so I broke up and then saw the corner (Josh Wilson) slip, so Tony saw the same thing and he just let it go,” Williams said. “The challenge was paying attention to the ball the whole way through.”

And then not fumbling as he turned up field.

“I just didn’t want to do nothing dumb,” Williams said, “and try to fight for more yards. So the whole key was just when I caught it to get down and live for another day.”

That Williams even played in the game was not a given. He suffered a hamstring injury last week against the Green Bay Packers and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. He was limited on Friday.

“Terrance is really a special kid,” coach Jason Garrett said. “He’s such a determined individual. He wants to be really, really good at this game and works very hard at it. He’s a very soft-spoken guy, but he wants to be a great player. And he wants to help our football team. He didn’t practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and was determined to come back from his injury and practiced well on Friday and instilled some confidence in us. He made some plays. He made a lot of little plays in the game, and certainly made the big play at the end to change the field position.”

Williams finished with four catches for 84 yards. It was the second-most yards he has had in a game this season, and most since he had 151 on four catches on Oct. 6 against the Denver Broncos.

“He puts himself in good position because of how much he cares,” Romo said. “He goes about his business the right way, and you really appreciate a guy like that.”

Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, Dwayne. Harris, Cole, Beasley, and Betty White would have taken that pass to the endzone. All of them would have opted to gain more yards in front of them with their natural speed and elusiveness rather than attempt what Williams did with challenging Euclidian Geometry that the shortest distance between two points is not an accelerated straight line but a slow sideways curve that meets an obstacle (Redskin tackler).

Omega, I'm entertained by your Twill hate, but he had to slow down so much to wait for that ball, there was no way he could outrun Wilson to the endzone.

My thought on the play was that you could see Tony thinking what he said last week about Dez, that it's better to be safe and complete the long one rather than risk an overthrow and get nothing. I kind of hate that he's thinking like that because a younger Tony would have tried to lead him a little for a TD.

Not that I'm complaining about Tony, just to be clear. There is some truth in what he said. It's just part of the natural process and all the battle scars you accumulate after eight years of playing, I guess.

That was an amazing catch with 2 defenders on him.

Now that one was great. I don't know why they don't try that more because he did that all the time in college. It's a lot like that TD he had in the corner of the endzone the first Skins game at home.

T Williams >>> all Cowboy receivers except Dez, and it isnt even close anymore.

Using Austin in formations instead of TW is a waste. TW should be out there every down.

As I explained in other thread, there is just soemthing basically wrong with having pro-Eagles pics in avatar or profile

I know we all want Red headed idiot gone, but I just cant bring myself to hope for a Philly win

It'd be like cheering on the Taliban or Muslim Brotherhood

I know, I hate the Eagles most of all. But that's just how bad he is. It's just one more loss, and at least it'll hurt their draft position. It's better than losing a playoff game to someone and better than another year with the same false hope.

Besides, where were you last week when I had the Skins in there?

I hate them with a passion too, but not like the Eagles

Thats something else entirely. I hate all 31 other teams but there are some teams that are in the ultimate hate class (Eagles for ex)
