We can throw a 4th round pick on a project from a middle school like Akbar Owussy-Onstar but wouldn't consider a mid to late pick for Mays?

Never been completely sold on Mays but I like his potential. He's got his flaws and may have been more hype than substance especially his last year at USC but is he really that far behind what we have on the roster now at back up safety?

He cant play in space. Why do people keep wondering about this? AOA was a 4th rd pick based on potential, athletic ability and game film from a small school. AOA has alot to learn, but he does have the physical talent. Mays is an example of the square peg in the round hole syndrome. He cant play safety in todays NFL, and he currently isnt big enough to move to LB. I think he'd have fit ok in the 80's or even early to mid 90's at SS, but not anymore.

The Niners are far from a mess, I fully believe that Harbaugh is going to be a huge success for them. It tells me something that he saw Mays as long as he did in the PAC 10 and got rid of him. Obviously if he thought he could play he would be there instead of Cincy.
