Taylor: Jason Garrett targeting Dom Capers' tree for defensive coodinator

SportsDayDFW.com

SportsDayDFW.com columnist Jean-Jacques Taylor chatted with fans on Monday and answered questions about the Dallas Cowboys. Here are some highlights:

Will Jason Garrett have more say in personnel than Wade Phillips had?

One of the big misconceptions about Jerry is that he runs roughshod over his coach. That's not true. He gives his coach a lot of input, but the coach has to be man enough to tell the owner what he wants. If the coach lets Jerry run over him, then he will. It's that simple.

Did Ray Sherman get cut loose because he interviewed for Garrett's job? WR coach was the least of Dallas problems.

I don't think so. It's a little surprising that a guy is good enough to interview for the Head Coaching position, but not good enough to coach WR for the same team. I'd place more blame on Jerry because it makes him and the organization look bad. Jerry should've known if Jason didn't want to keep Sherman. It seems to me that Jason and Sherman probably had some issues relating to 2008 when T.O., Crayton and Roy complained about the offense and Romo, so he went in another direction once he had the opportunity to do so

Who do you think Garrett will choose at defensive coordinator and will it be his call or Jerry's?

It'll be Jason's call. It looks, based on the candidates he's spoken with, that he's trying to get someone off Dom Capers' tree to run the defense because he wants an aggressive 3-4 defense.

Winston Moss is becoming to be my favorite.

But a guy like Nolan would be good too, because he has more experience.

I'm sure Jason will make a smart educated decision.

I think Manusky will interview and be on his way to San Diego.

Until Green Bay is eliminated we won't know much about Moss.

I guess we'll end up with Fangio, argh!

I'm with you Bob I like Moss.

Fangio looks to be the one though, but who really knows I don't think we will know until at least the Conference Championship games.

Then again we might not know until Super Bowl week.

If it comes down to Fangio, I'd rather have Paul P back.

Really?

Maybe I just have a harder time grasping coach P as our future DC.

I have changed my mind about this topic at least four times now.

Take it easy Blueballs.

I've read all these articles the same as the next guy, even Capers has told Jerry that he thinks highly of him.

Also, I will accept any DC that Jason hires, I'm just giving my opinion.

Really. Didn't get it. In fact the question was not directed towards you.

Still, I told you the hype about Moss but yet here you are, asking why people like Moss...again.

Just tell us why you don't like Winston Moss instead of trying to mask it with simple ignorance by asking the same dumb question.

I have an interest in Moss because he's highly regarded as a young up and coming assistant. I like that he comes from the Capers tree.

I'd be happy with Fangio as well for the same reason (Capers tree).

I'd actually prefer Fangio over Moss because I think if Moss was worth a shat, we'd be looking to replace him in two years max (he'd get a HC gig), whereas Fangio is likely too old to get any consideration for a HC gig, so we could keep him for several years.

I never said that I did not like Moss. I'd be fine with Moss as DC. There is just as much hype about Bowles. So chill out Bob Sucamanoff.
