Tashard Choice, shoulders slumped, sat in a metal folding chair, staring into his locker about an hour after the Cowboys' latest debacle.

He already had slipped on some jeans and a sweater. A pair of black and gray Polo boots is all that remained in his locker

"We suck," Choice said to no one in particular, since most players had already left the locker room.

Then he repeated himself. Only this time, he said it louder.

Choice seemed to be having difficulty reconciling the Cowboys' sorry 1-7 record, their five-game losing streak and two-month spiral into NFL irrelevancy.

He's not alone.

Many players in the Cowboys' locker room can't believe how poorly this team is playing. They take the losses hard.

They struggle, literally, to sleep at night.

The problem, however, is that not every player feels the same despair Choice experienced after the humiliation of losing, 45-7, to the Green Bay Packers before a national television audience.

That's why Jason Garrett's primary job is to get 45 players to play hard for 60 minutes. Those who don't must sit down.

Garrett must bench them during the game and deactivate them for the next game, if necessary. It's far better to lose with players going 100 mph than those making business decisions midway through a lost season.

Garrett can start by telling Mike Jenkins that he has used up all of his grace. By now, we've all seen Jenkins pulling up instead of tackling Green Bay receiver James Jones on his 10-yard touchdown catch.

Disgraceful.

And unacceptable.

Garrett should call out Jenkins when he meets with the team for the first time Wednesday and immediately put everyone on notice that such shameful actions will not be tolerated.

That would provide the first tangible evidence that Garrett is different from Wade Phillips.

Its more than Jenkins who needs to be called out.

The whole Secondary should be called out.

That's pretty much why I want Choice to start. I do believe he cares more.

He at least needs to be the 2nd back and split carries.
