You can choose to disagree, but Tony Romo is one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks. Not Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees good – at least not yet. But he’s certainly at the next level with Aaron Rodgers and Phillip Rivers.

If he wants to end the idea that he’s just a guy who piles up gaudy passing statistics and doesn’t win the games that matter most, then it’s time for him to seize control of this team.

It’s time for Romo to tell his teammates with his performance that he’s ready to lead them where they want to go. When Romo is terrific, like he was against Houston in the Cowboys’ last game, this team is tough to beat.

That’s because Romo can make every throw – the back-shoulder fade, the deep out, the slant, the bomb, the skinny post. And he’ll throw it where the coverage dictates, instead of forcing it to Jason Witten or Miles Austin as some folks contend.

He has the athleticism to bring forth big plays out of chaos, the intelligence to read defenses, and the charisma to inspire his teammates with his performance.

The Cowboys need that guy. Every single week.

They don’t need the jittery quarterback lacking confidence because he didn’t trust his offensive line. That player is just a guy, the kind of quarterback who will drive you crazy with his inconsistency.

Romo should be held to the standard of elite quarterbacks because he’s that good. The first quarter of the NFL season has shown us that no dominant team exists.

The conference is waiting for some team to take charge, and become the front-runner. If Romo plays to his ability, the Cowboys can be that team.

The game is always about the quarterback.

It’s time to find out whether Romo is ready to become one of the league’s elite players on a consistent basis.

The test starts Sunday.

Yeah, I think you can throw a blanket on the three Rs. Rodgers, Romo, Rivers. You can make a case for any order.

I'd rank them just like that.

I'd actually flip flop Rivers and Rodgers....Rodgers absolutely destroys bad defenses but good teams tend to beat him.

And they say Romo doesn't win big games...bs

Romo can beat any team in any situation.

Give me the football down by 6 with two minutes to go and Tony Romo as my QB and I feel good about it. Home or on the road. Regular season or playoffs. There's only a handful of other QBs I'd choose over him.

I have him 6th overall. Manning, Brady, Roethlisberger, Brees, Rodgers and Romo.

I wish he had real leadership at the top instead of a fake GM and a weak head coach.

Romo, Rodgers and Rivers.

This team is damn lucky to have Romo as a QB.

Let's hope Jones realizes this and decides to put better people in front of him.

Yes, let's hope. Because they have been "so successful" at replacing the O-line. This is the best lineup this team has had in years. I am taking advantage of it and hoping they get it in gear. YEs, it can be better, but,the track record for Dallas and picking linemen has been shaky for quite some time.

Well first thing they need to do is get a better scouting department, and then also get rid of Houck.

Somebody on here, sometime back, said Romo has show us he wants to win.I can't remember who said that,I'm old,so fuck you.

To me,that's what is keeping Romo from being the cream of the crop.He has mad skills. But sometimes seems lackadaisical after a loss.I'd really like to see him go all Aikman on his blockers, backs and receivers sometime.Different people do things different ways so maybe his leadership will develop anyway.

Rodgers seems more mature, and handled everything from his draft day slide to the whole Brett Favre thing w/o blinking. On the field,he's really good, but sometimes takes sacks he doesn't have to looking for that big play.

Rivers is competitive and talented, and I'd just as soon punch him in the nuts.My personal nickname for him is "Bitch Boy".I don't like him,but he's a great QB.
