Dallas Cowboys running back Tashard Choice said his celebrated autograph for Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick has not caused a rift with interim head coach Jason Garrett.
``He understood,'' said Choice, adding that he had discussed the matter with Garrett.
Choice became the subject of national debate when NBC cameras caught him making the request to Vick after a 30-27 loss to the Eagles on Sunday. Choice said he has received positive response from players throughout the league and was amazed that this became an issue.
``I get attention because it's a national game, and people don't like Michael Vick,'' Choice said.
Choice said he apologized on Monday, via Twitter, because he does not like ``negative attention for the Cowboys.'' He was concerned that some teammates would respond negatively but said that has not happened.
``As long as my coaches and my teammates know me, everything is cool,'' Choice said. ``Everybody knows me. Everybody's watched me play the game since I've been here. They know who I am
``I wouldn't be in the NFL if I didn't compete.''
Choice acknowledged he should have asked a non-uniformed club employee to get the autograph, which will go to a two-year-old nephew.
``The only thing it did was mess up my doggone surprise for my little nephew for Christmas,'' Choice said.
