No that is a misconception.

All the great talked about speeches come the night before the game. Watch any of the Americas game episodes or just old NFL films stuff and you will see it's the night before at the team meeting where these speeches happen.

Leaving the locker room you usually hear about the we know what we have to do stuff.

Parcells gave his big I am packing for two games when the giants went to sf in 90, holmgren gave his bag full of money speech the night before the super bowl in 96. More recently in 08 rex Ryan gave the big speech to the ravens the night before the final game at Texas stadium. NFL films has alot of this stuff from bill Walsh, it's all the night before.
