ARLINGTON — The Cowboys admit the sun played a part in Jason Witten failing to hold onto a ball on the final drive of their loss to the Giants.

“Yeah, it was, but you know what you still should make the plays,” the tight end said. “There’s no question about that. The sun kind of got us on a little bit. But we still need to make those plays. I need to make it.”

Other teams have complained about the glare at the end of 3:25 p.m. games, with the sun shining through the west windows at AT&T Stadium. But it marked the first time since the stadium opened in 2009 that the Cowboys have complained about it.

“It was like on the right side of the field breaking out,” receiver Cole Beasley said. “So Witten had one where the sun was an issue. He was looking right into it. That last one I caught, I didn’t have any issues.”

The sun also earned some blame on an incomplete pass intended for Dez Bryant with 5:33 remaining in the fourth quarter.

“Yeah, it did,” Bryant said. “The safety [Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie] made a hell of a play. He really did.”

Said Jerry Jones, “Well, I saw that one with Dez, and I saw really Witten. Those two. That’s certainly, looking back in that sun, but to some degree they’ve got it too when they come in there. Those were bright spots. Actually, I thought the sun, while it may have impacted those two throws, I thought the sun was pretty good out there today.”

'I thought the sun was pretty good out there today.'

If it wasn't said by Jerry I'd have thought this had to be from The Onion or something.

But if you'd make it run north and south, all those people from I-30 wouldn't see it nearly as well.

Can't have those millions of cars looking at the ass end of Jerry's opulent Monument to Himself.

It was another brilliant coaching decision. Win the toss, and take the kickoff so that the opponents can choose which side of the field to defend, thus turning what is supposed to be a home field advantage into a disadvantage. Only a red-headed genius could be so innovative. It's almost as innovative as icing your own kicker.

Yeah, I get why offensive firepowers like Oregon in college or Green Bay in the NFL want the ball first, but the smart teams defer when you win the toss. Garrett is an idiot.

Maybe I got the game wrong... Or did they close them later in that game? Seems like whenever it was, they closed them during the game.

How about run some bootleg action... get Dak out of the pocket and into the shade or out of the angle where the sun is directly in the receivers' faces.

Seriously, this franchise keeps on looking more ridiculous as the years go on.

1st there was jumbo-tron-gate. Now this. The dumbest shit that happens to us...

We're not even getting football result related attention anymore.

Yep, its just fucking sad. Jones has totally made us an afterthought as a football team, when once this was the marquee team in all of sports because of success on the field.

There have never been curtains. Either the endzone glass is opened, or its not.
