Sturm: Mike Jenkins Fun Facts from 2010

Mike Jenkins Fun Facts from 2010
By Bob Sturm / Contributor

I am spending plenty of time tonight reviewing the career of Mike Jenkins as I write his profile for the website that should appear late tomorrow morning.

It is truly shocking how he can appear to be the worst of 5 corners on the roster in 2008, maybe the very best in 2009, and then back to brutal in 2010.

And by brutal, allow me to detail from tomorrow's article:

the opponent's pass rating to his man was a shocking 122.6 - worst in the NFL among starting corners. He was 7th in the NFL in penalties among corners and personally conceded a league-high 994 yards against.

Let that soak in for a while. Wow. Worst in the league in 2 very important categories.

Rob Ryan and Jason Garrett really need to figure out how to reach Jenkins. He must reach his potential for this defense to have a chance to be good.

As a fan I can describe those facts as anything but fun. That is eye gouging deplorable.

Despite those fun facts, I still think he's a very good corner. Best on the team, IMO.

I expect a huge rebound year out of him. Rob should have these players believing they are the best at their positions if his personality rubs off on them at all. The confidence boost alone should do wonders for Jenkins.

The first thing I would do if I were Rob is, I'd sit down one on one with Jenkins and show him his own film from 2009.

Jenkins was lights out during the Packers game.

One of the best performances I've ever seen.

Removing Dave Campo and getting a Secondary Coach players actually respect would be a huge start.

I forgot Campo is still around. I thought he'd be gone for sure with the way his corners played last year.

He must be in the family portrait too.

He wasn't passing the eye test for sure, but I had no idea he was that bad. I'm not at all confident that he's ever going to be a DB that can be depended on.

Absolutely.

It pisses me off to no end that we brought that loser back yet again.

The secondary might be the most poorly coached unit on the team and yet we bring Campo back.

FML.
