The Ticket host Bob Sturm answered your questions in a chat Friday. Here are some highlights.

Doug Fu asks ... So, we now see what happens when your GM is out trying to avoid a labor dispute, your team misses out on two safeties (Atoguwe, Sanders) that could help them. Any other safeties out there left? Also, Robert Gallery, worth a shot, or are there other alternatives out there?

Bob Sturm: This is a frequent topic. Is Jerry too busy to negotiate a CBA and with a free agent? I think he has enough peeps to do both. My issue remains with his cash flow. I think his actions would seem to indicate that he is not printing money the way he once did. I think the stadium has hurt free agency - and I think he believed it would do just the opposite. The perfect storm with the economy has really hamstrung them. OJ Atogwe should have been the Cowboys solution. They had 0 interest. I think money is my only explanation.

Dickie Laskiewicz asks ... Assuming there is at least a 12-game scheduled played in the NFL this year, do you consider this a make or break season for Romo?

Bob Sturm: I think this is big for Tony. He is now at that age where he needs to earn his keep on an annual basis. the league has no patience for excuses for guys over 30. he needs to be big.

Curtis asks ... Is Jerry Jones the worst GM in the NFL? Is he at least in the bottom third?

Bob Sturm: I really think he would be better off getting someone in that spot who lives that position. I wish I didn't have to see pictures of Jerry in Vegas the day after he fires Wade. I wish I didn't know that Floyd Mayweather fights are just as important to him as watching film on free agents. I wish I didn't wonder whether I spend more time watching tape than he does. So, yes, his job performance to me is near the bottom of the league. I think he has talented scouts, but I think he is too divided to be great at what he does as GM.

Gerry asks ... How do you rank the big 4 Dallas sports teams chances of winning a championship this year?

Bob Sturm: Mavs - Rangers - Cowboys - Stars. But, the Mavs chances are about 8 to 1, Rangers, 15 to 1, Cowboys and Stars are about 20 to 1.

Guest asks ... #1 need for the Cowboys - Safety, Right Tackle, or something else?

Bob Sturm: I think I need to get better on both lines. I need a stud in the 1st. I don't see a safety worth it, but I see good OL and DL in the 1st. I might need to trade back on OL, but DE at #9 would be outstanding.

Meat and potatoes draft. Make it happen. I'd spend multiple picks on the OL and front 7 on defense.

Forget about that. Talk about the title of this thread.

He says Jerry is at the bottom of the league as a GM.

Discuss.

He is one of the worst GM's in the league, it's been proven.

For my money, the single worst GM in professional sports history. For the simple fact that if you gave everyone a clean slate expansion team, Jerry would be the least likely to ever build it into a contender. He'd have to hire a coach to do the work for him. Someone who is fine with pretending Jerry is the GM of the team.

Can't wait until he's no longer around. Would be really great if he takes his family with him.

There it is.

I think he was too nice. He's acting like he's merely distracted and that's effecting his ability to GM. I say he sucks totally focused on the roster.

There was no new stadium, Super Bowl bids and prize fights to worry about in the late 90's into the 00s.

His ego is bigger than the other 31 owners and GM's combined except maybe for Snyder who is right on his heels. I believe he finally sees that he is taking the lumps for the Cowboys failures for well over a decade but he refuses to budge. Most would finally see the light and reach out for help. He and he alone wants to be the face of the franchise. He wants the glory without a sidekick to share the headlines. I think the Cowboys fall to mediocrity only fuels his ego even more to prove he can build a Superbowl team again. It's Jerry's kingdom and he has all the power and craves all the glory forever. Amen

I disagree with him on his take about not pursuing Atogwe. I am more than fine with not going after him. Especially at $5 mill/yr at age 30. Say what you want, if Rob Ryan felt that Atogwe could offer something, then he would have at least been brought in.
