Season: Third

College: California

Strengths: Jackson is a playmaker who keeps defensive coordinators up late at night. He is explosive with 35 plays of 25 yards or more in his career. He is a threat to score any time he touches the ball as evidenced by his 16 receiving touchdowns and three return touchdowns. Jackson, who ran a 4.38 at the NFL Scouting Combine, is at his best in space. He has natural pass-receiving skills, and he runs precise routes. He has no problem gaining separation on even the league's best cornerbacks. Jackson has improved his understanding of defenses. He also ranks as one of the most dangerous punt returners in the league.

Weaknesses: Jackson is undersized, which is one of the reasons he still was on the board in the second round of the 2008 draft. Another reason is he did not have a good final season at Cal. There were questions then about his commitment. That has followed him to the NFL, where he has had plays and games where he has lost his focus. He had a premature touchdown celebration against the Dallas Cowboys as a rookie, dropping the ball on the 1-yard line to begin his touchdown dance. He will drop some easy passes, and he has five drops this season. He also can be stripped of the ball. He has nine fumbles in 42 games, losing three.

Last week: He had three catches for 84 yards in the Eagles' 34-24 victory over the Houston Texans on Thursday. He had no punt returns and one rush for no yards.

Who has to stop him? The Cowboys allowed Peyton Manning to pass for 365 yards last week, but they picked off the All-Pro quarterback four times. Terence Newman is tied for the ninth-most receptions allowed (43) for 593 yards and two touchdowns, according to STATS, Inc., while Mike Jenkins is tied for 18th (39) and has allowed 583 yards and two touchdowns. Orlando Scandrick, who suffered a concussion last week, is tied for third in touchdowns allowed (6).

Notable: He became the first player in NFL history to earn Pro Bowl berths at two positions, having been voted in as a returner and as a receiver last season.... His eight touchdowns of 50 yards or more last season tied the NFL record for 50-plus-yard touchdowns in a season.... He averaged 52.8 yards per touchdown last season. ... Since entering the league in 2008, Jackson leads the league in punt-return yards (1,020).... He has 38 receptions for 762 yards and five touchdowns this season. His 20.1 yards per catch ranks third in the NFL behind Pittsburgh's Mike Wallace and Washington's Anthony Armstrong. ... Jackson and Jeremy Maclin are on pace to become the first pair of teammates in team history to have 1,000 receiving yards in the same season.
