FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Former Bills pass rusher Aaron Maybin, a first-round draft pick who was released by Buffalo after only two seasons, was en route to the New York Jets' facility Wednesday morning to take a physical, a league source told ESPNNewYork.com.

Barring something unforeseen, Maybin is expected to sign with the Jets, the source said.

Maybin was cut Monday after two awful seasons that made him one of the biggest draft busts in recent memory. Maybin, the 11th overall pick in the 2009 draft, played in 26 games for the Bills and didn't record a single sack.

Maybin is somewhat similar to former Jets bust Vernon Gholston, whom the Jets released in February. The Jets still are looking for ways to upgrade their pass rush, and they decided to take a flier on Maybin, a former Penn State standout.

At 6-foot-4, 228 pounds, Maybin is undersized for the Jets' 3-4 scheme, but the coaching staff is eager to see if he can be an edge rusher in the nickel package. He likely will sign a non-guaranteed contract.
