Last nights game made up for some of the pain that has been stuck in me from the 05 home opener when moss caught the two td's. It had the same feel but this time we are the better team.
I am tired of the national media and the washington media trying to drum up this notion that the rivalry is back every couple of years when washington is actually playing well. They never talk about it when washington flat out stinks.
Here is an idea for the redskins players who for the third year in a row have walked around and danced in the pregame at the stadium like they own the place, you don't and frankly no one on your roster has done anything. London Fletcher celebrates every play like its a superbowl winner and we have to hear about it ad nauseum because the media likes him...i get it he is an underachiever......but he also over celebrates every routine play and he taunts our sideline like he is some sort of all timer. Where is the media when he is getting blown up by felix jones on a critical fourth qtr play? where are they when is flailing around and is responsible for a huge gap jones runs in at a critical moment in the 4th.....most importantly where is all his classless taunting then. I dont like the player and i dont respect him, he is a big mouth, lot like mcnabb.
Anyway one more rant before the football stuff. The fan here in Dallas, 105.3 fm's pregame show is absolutely dreadful. We have a doofus from virginia who is a skins fan running the pregame and all they talked about was how good the skins are and how bad the fans are here. THis shaun sariff can go fuck himself. I cant wait till he gets fired.
ok now onto football things.
IN the pregame warmup yesterday dan bailey's kicks looked shakey and his kickoffs looked awful. He must have just been getting loose because his kicks were terrific.
Our special teams were terrific, banks brought out nearly every kick and i think he only crossed the 20 once.
SOmething I have not seen anyone talk about and it probably means he is doing something right is # 25 Frank walker. He was out there a bunch and you never hear his name, that is a good thing.
Bradie James was back to covering kicks last night, I think that is new this week. I dont recall him doing that in awhile.
Sean Lee is really playing great. He is running to the line of scrimmage showing blitz, then retreating five yards and then stopping coming back and making tackles on running backs about 2 to 3 yards over the line of scrimmage....That is as impressive to me as his ability to catch the football. After the game Joe Avezzano said on the postgame his intelligence and ability to catch the ball is off the charts and he is one damn good player. I was terrified of the inside guys, he has really been good.
I think there is some confusion on T-New in the 4th qtr. He was not injured in the game, he was given a series off in the 4th because he was winded, not because he was injured. He sat with the oxygen tank on that series and was back out for the final series.
Alan ball was across from moss an awful lot and played well.
Am I wrong or is stephen bowen the common denominator here on the cadence issue? Garrett had hochuli over to the sideline repeatedly during timeout breaks. I have no idea the officials missed this.
Speaking of officials, Ed Hochuli's crew is terrible. They throw the most flags in the league and all of a sudden last night none? Not going to go on and on about it, but that was as bad as an officiated game as we have seen here in awhile. SOme game changing moments also late where his crew really missed stuff.
Martellus bennett made a comment on his twitter account last week when asked by a fan if they could get him a job in the front office, he responded "No, I barely have a job Here" All I know is this guy looked sloppy in warmups and almost disintrested during the game. I look forward to him being replaced next year and have no doubt they will find a tight end who can replace him. He simply can not catch the football.
People are getting on tashard choice and I dont see what his purpose is here but He stepped up in pass protection last night, repeated plays that we made down the field he was critical in pass protection. Going out of bounds was as braindead as you can get. He is another player who will be replaced next year and I have no fear he will be replaced fairly simply.
Demarco murray is apparently on the same learning the offense and the game phase as dwayne harris and that is ok with me. Bring them along and only let them do what they know how to do.
For all the nonsense that gets spewed by the fans and the media, thx for throwing us die hards under the bus brad sham really appreciated that yesterday......the stadium was good. It had good energy and the feel of a big game was there.
Lot of talk about garrett's play calling and I liked it. I think they played to their strength last night and allowed there special teams and defense to win the game. A couple near devastating turnovers we were lucky to survive but we also didnt make the critical error late.
on that note, after the week 1 loss everyone on sportstalk radio, I like to refer to them as idiots were calling in and declaring that jason garrett doesnt know what he is doing because he went spread in NY on the goal line and romo fumbled. Running the ball there and taking the points was a smart play. The fumble happened. Everyone griped. Now this morning and last night these same idiots are calling and declaring romo a dope because he RAN the ball on that last possesion instead of throwing it. I think we played it perfectly. Grossman didnt look at all like he could go 80 yards and beat us and he couldnt and didnt.
I have no idea who declared deangleo hall a star but he isnt and he is another guy who talks after every play. He was beaten repeatedly last night yet was still dancing. HIm and fletcher and landry are giving up big plays and still trash talking and dancing.....
Something that bothers me about ogletree is that he waits for the ball to come to him all the time, he never attacks it in the air or goes and gets it. Last night robinson made one of the biggest plays of the game by going and attacking the ball in the air. I like ogletree still and think he will improve, if robinson can get worked in that will be great also.
My biggest observation of the night. People do not realize how good miles austin is. He is the guy in our offense who can get open immediately. He is open within a 5-7 yard range and allows our offense to function at a high level. He is our biggest weapon next to romo. We need him back.
Oh Tony Romo is and has been really good, david moore told a story on the jason garrett show sunday that the players couldnt hear him in the huddle or at the line because he couldnt speak up on that comeback against the niners. Pretty fantastic run here for him. That 3rd and 21 was a huge play. Skins fans in the stadium and there players on the sideline were all taunting the crowd and romo hit them with that.
This detroit game will be one of our most difficult games of the year. We are hurt and they are balanced. I think if we can get this one somehow we will be in the drivers seat. We will have two weeks to get healthy and prepared for new england. We will have three of our most difficult games of the season over with and its only week 6. The rest of the division will still have new england, the jets and detroit. If we can find a way sunday and then get scandrick, hatcher and austin back after the bye we could really get this thing going.
some other little things, Harris looked good on punt returns. He made some very important plays where he caught the ball and didnt let it go over his head.....
and on the side of covering kicks Danny McCray was injured early, some sort of shoulder injury but he stayed in the game and was making plays on that last kickoff....hats off.
oh and my throat is killing me, that was a fun atmosphere last night. The guy on the cover of the program looked like a shell of himself till that 3rd and 21 and then bryant made that play.
Finally, why the hell do the shannahans pace the sidelines so much? The two of them look like some sort of stage act....they literally are pacing up and down next to each other and avoiding each other at times.....its ridiculous.
oh and because I hate fletcher and the opinion of him nationally, everyone remember in critical moments in the 4th qtr he was blocked twice by bill nagy a 7th rounder making his 2nd start.......
in this pic he is flailing around while the gap he was supposed to get to felix jones ran right through for a huge 4th qtr play.
and here on a big play felix blows his ass up.
