The Cowboys have reached the 53-man limit and there are some questions:
Junior Siavii - This is the biggest surprise, in my mind. He played well in the preseason and seemed to be a favorite of Wade Phillips. He's also a big body they need behind Jay Ratliff. I like Josh Brent's potential, but he's still young. Now, it looks like he will be active on game day. For Siavii, this is the second time in three years he has done enough to make the squad and hasn't.
Sean Lissemore - I'm surprised the seventh rounder made it. He was not talked about much during camp in part because of an injury that limited his practice work. He offers some position flexibility because he can play nose tackle and end.
Cletis Gordon - He went from the interception leader of camp to cut. And he's not practice squad eligible. Add the cut of Bryan McCann and the Cowboys are going light at cornerback.
Deon Anderson/two tight ends - Somewhat surprised here and it could change if the Cowboys find a tight end they like on the waiver wire. Anderson brings a lot of power in the running game but little else. And he's an injury risk as well as the off-field issue with his arrest in the spring. I'm guessing they will add a tight end this week.
Leon Williams - Phillips can talk about Jason Williams' play but if they were completely convinced, then I don't think Leon Williams makes it. He was not involved that much on the first-team special teams units throughout camp. I don't mean to slam Leon Williams. He did enough to make the team but five inside linebackers seems a little heavy.
