IRVING, Texas -- On Wednesday Baltimore announced it would host training camp at its practice facility and not at McDaniel College because of the prolonged lockout and likelihood that training camp will be shorter than normal.

The Cowboys have said they would hold camp at the Alamodome in San Antonio this summer and not make the trek to Oxnard, Calif. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones did not rule out split camps in the future, however, this is the last year of the agreement between the Cowboys and San Antonio.

What if a new collective bargaining agreement comes together in the middle of July and camps start in August? Would it make sense to go to the Alamodome only for a couple of weeks?

From an economic standpoint, I can see the Cowboys wanting to go to the Alamodome because of the ability to sell t-shirts and the like. It would also mean they could go somewhere else in 2012. From a football standpoint, it might be wiser to hold camp at Valley Ranch and have select practices at Cowboys Stadium in order to give the fans a few of their team. Because of a lack of parking and stands, fans would not be allowed to watch practices at Valley Ranch.

With Jason Garrett holding his first training camp with a new defensive staff, I'd lean more to having camp at Valley Ranch.

A camp at Valley Ranch without a crowd wouldn't be a terrible thing.

If we were to get a camp here at home I would bouncing off the walls happy. It would be a nice change to the ridiculousness of having it 1600 miles away in Los angeles.

I dont mind the drive down to san antonio that is fine. But taking the camp from the fans here who actually buy the tickets and are the core base of the fans never makes any sense to me. I hate it.

We're America's Team, Theebs. So long as they keep the camp in the US of A, we're within the teams jurisdiction.

If they have camp at Valley Ranch, you won't be invited. It'll be closed to fans.

I don't have a problem with it. Training camp isn't for fans. It's for the coaches and players.

there is no way we have a camp without allowing the fans. Especially after this lockout and bad pub.

If it were to end that way where they stay in irving I will almost guarantee they have practices either in the am or pm at the stadium or have specific days of practice both am and pm at the stadium.

THey have been doing it since 08 where they have open practices during camp at texas stadium/cowboys stadium.

now having said that, if they were to have camp at valley ranch and disallow all fans I would love it. The focus would be right where it needs to be. I cant see that though.
