Cowboys radio announcer Brad Sham joined 105.3 The Fan's Shan and R.J. to talk about the Cowboys' overtime win over the Redskins. Here are some highlights:
On who the player of the game was against Washington:
I’m not sure it’s not the quarterback, honestly. With 3rd and 15, if you just watch the tape … you see what he does in the pocket, see how he moves around, see how he keeps it alive. … I went back and talked to him a little bit last night about a couple of the plays, and he confirmed what I thought -- that Dez actually ran an outstanding route on 3rd and 15. He changed the play, Romo did, from what was sent in, and the one he changed to had an adjustment in the route. So there was a play sent in, [Romo] changed it, what he changed it to had an option adjustment in the route for Dez, and he got it all right, which is impressive for Dez. Because I think now we’ve seen two or three weeks where Dez has actually a few good routes, so they may be getting through to him a little bit.
On whether the Cowboys are missing Miles Austin:
Oh my goodness, people don’t understand how much they miss Miles Austin. Absolutely, yes in capital letters. Laurent Robinson’s a nice player, he’s a No. 3 receiver and he’s in the right place for where he should be. ... One of the things about Miles is to have a guy who runs the routes that he runs and then have the speed and explosion and reliability of catching the ball. He’ll be where the route says he’s supposed to be. He can also adjust with the quarterback, ad lib. And then he can make a play, he can turn that into something with his hands, with his legs, with his speed. He’s got the little tricks of how to separation. It’s hard sometimes when there is nowhere to throw the ball, and I think that was some of what was going on yesterday.
