Sensabaugh to test market
January, 3, 2011 Jan 39:45AM
At the end of his season, Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh was tied with Terence Newman with the team lead with five interceptions.
Sensabaugh was hopeful he could get a new contract from the Cowboys at the start of the season but the team took care of only Miles Austin in terms of a new deal.
Now with the season over, it seems Sensabaugh will test the market which is uncertain with the owners and players working on a new collective bargaining agreement.
"I'm not worried about it, we'll see what happens," Sensabaugh said. "It's odd but I can't really control that. The way I am I will let that stuff play itself out and try to get better as a player."
The Cowboys could let Sensabaugh get an offer from another team before deciding whether to match or surpass it. If the team drafts a safety, they have the ninth pick of the draft, it could also change their thinking.
Sensabaugh is just one of several players who are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents with the season over from Sam Hurd, Marcus Spears, Jason Hatcher and Stephen Bowen.
