Sean Lee getting head start on new defense

February, 5, 2011

By Todd Archer
DALLAS -- Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee spent Friday at the Pepsi Max NFLX combine, less than a year after going through the NFL’s version of it in Indianapolis.

If you’ve watched the Pepsi MAX commercials the last few weeks, then you know what Lee had to do: throw footballs through a hole in oversized soda bottles, push a soda machine sled, catch some passes and push a dolly full of Pepsi MAX through a slalom of tackling dummies.

“I was out of breath,” Lee joked. “That was pretty hard.”

Fear not, Lee is not becoming soft in his second year. In fact after learning Rob Ryan would become the Cowboys defensive coordinator he ordered up some Cleveland game film to get a head start on what he will have to learn in 2011.

Going through the draft process last year, Lee already has a relationship with new linebackers coach Matt Eberflus.

“I met with him at a hotel and we went over the defense for about 40 minutes, put things on the board and then after that you had to tell him everything about what you just learned,” Lee said. “It was a way to see what you retained, so I kind of have a jumpstart on what we’re going to be doing.”

Yes, it is terrible he displays the hard work and character instilled him by the University he represented and as far being injury prone. I guess he just falls into the tub with the other 363 players that appeared on the official injury report last year.

Penn St. is Bust U.

Yes. Lee is like all the other players. If those same players have had issues with staying on the field for 3 straight seasons.

incorrect.

Care to do some research before commenting again.

I mean I'm not going to waste my time with this. I have stated before I have a inability to adapt to ill informed logic so I'm not gong to even try.

If you want to state he has had an issue with injuries then so be it but at least know what your talking about. The type of injuries, the cause of the injuries, the time frame they caused him to miss action. Dont just spout some number to make yourself look cool because what you did is prove your talking out your ass by giving a incorrect statement.

As far as PSU, you showed your mental ability to rationalize an argument. You dont like them fine, but your drawing a conclusion based on a opinion and opinion of which could be used on any University who has had a prospect fail at the NFL level.

FAIL

I don't get it. Are you saying that Lee hasn't had problems with staying on the field? What, exactly, is the argument here?

The Penn St. thing is admittedly a personal bias I carry. Maybe's it's because I'm in that area and am constantly surrounded by the hype of their players. I haven't done any research, but have followed the draft like it's my job for about 20 years now and it seems like their prospects carry a high bust rate.

The injury prone thing isn't an opinion. It's fact. Lee has missed games for three straight years now. He missed all of 2008 with a blown knee. He missed three games in 2009 with a sprained knee. And we know about his injuries this past year.

I'm not totally writing him off. And I certainly don't root against him. But those two things are why I view him as a longer shot to make it than most people.

You currently live in that area or are from that area. I only ask because I am as well.

Quit hating on Lee, he's going to be an All-Pro linebacker for us.

I don't live right in that area. I'm in the Lehigh Valley. Their fan base extends over here.

Well people are just focusing on the negative. I also said he's showing intangibles that can make you great.

My ex-fiance was from Hop Bottom, PA.

I was just throwing that out there since we're all talking about our ties to PA.
