Seahawks want to trade out of the first round

Seahawks G.M. John Schneider will enter next Thursday with the 25th pick in the first round of the NFL draft. But he sounds like a man who would like to avoid making a pick on Thursday altogether.
“Personally, I’d like to move back,” Schneider said Monday. “I have confidence in our ability in those middle rounds to do some good stuff.”
Or, as Peter King of Sports Illustrated wrote, “Seattle wants to trade down so bad from 25 that John Schneider can taste it.”
The Seahawks sent their third-round pick to San Diego in last year’s trade for Charlie Whitehurst, so a move that would get Seattle back into the third round is one that Schneider would welcome. He’s just not sure if he can find a trading partner willing to give up a third-round pick.
“It’s actually easier to go up than it is to go back,” Schneider said. “I think there’s a number of teams that would like to go back right now. Not having a third-round pick, I’m not excited about that.”
So Schneider will spend the next 10 days trying to get himself a third-round pick.
