Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck hasn't cleared his baseline test for a concussion fast enough and has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the New York Giants, the team announced Thursday.
Charlie Whitehurst, acquired in a trade from the San Diego Chargers during the offseason, will get the start. Hasselbeck was sacked eight times Sunday during a 33-3 loss to the Oakland Raiders.
The concussion was described as slight early in the week, but Hasselbeck didn't practice Wednesday and Thursday.
The Seahawks are expected to sign rookie Zac Robinson off the practice squad to be Whitehurst's backup.
