Second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2009. Honorable mention as a freshman in 2007. … Rushed for 1,214 yards and 15 touchdowns on 282 carries and caught 71 passes for 594 yards and five touchdowns as a senior.

Broaddus Breakdown (viewed Texas and Oklahoma State games): Is a bit of an upright runner but is not afraid to take the ball hard downhill when he gets to the outside. Like the way he tries to punish the defender with his running style. Early in the Texas game, he took it hard on the edge to Aaron Williams, but to Williams credit, he didn’t shy away from the contact, either. … Has the vision to see the hole and get into it then make a cut. Can see blocks develop quickly, make a cut and then gets where he needs to be. … Plays with a burst and is extremely quick-footed. Shows balance with the ability to plant then cut. … If he has a weakness, he needs to do a better job of breaking tackles. Did see him come down with some arm tackles. … Plays with soft hands as a receiver. Will line up all over the formation. Has been used out of the backfield, in the slot and even out wide as a receiver. Does not fight the ball at all when it's thrown his direction. Is a solid route runner that gets open with a purpose. Can make catches in the open field and just not out of the backfield. Of his 64 college touchdowns, 11 of them were as a pass receiver. … Can make things happen with the ball in his hands. … Will need to be trained as a pass protector in the NFL game because of his initial role should be that of a third-down back. If he learns quickly how to pass protect, will see action much sooner in his pro career because he has the other skills to be productive on offense. … Before the draft, what the Cowboys scouting department was looking for was a back that could play on third downs but also help on special teams. Murray can help as a kick returner because in his career he averaged over 27 yards a return. Like his pass blocking, if can he develop in other areas on special teams as a cover man and blocker, he will be a nice fit to the type of back the scouts were searching for.
