FRISCO — Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick was held out of practice with a sore hamstring Thursday, but he said he will be fine for Sunday’s game against Washington.

It’s the same hamstring that sidelined Scandrick briefly during the team’s 20-19 loss to the New York Giants in the season opener.

He practiced full on Wednesday. Scandrick said he did individual drills Thursday.

Scandrick said the hamstring injury is not related to the right knee injury that sidelined him all last season when he tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments. But it likely had something to do with him not being used to playing football again after missing all of season and getting just a few snaps in the preseason.

He said the injury happened when he lost his balance after giving up a 45-yard reception to Odell Beckham.

“It didn’t happen because of any thing related to my knee,” Scandrick said. “I over strided. I got off balanced. I over extended to keep form falling. I’m just attacking it. I’m mentally strong enough to handle anything. I’m definitely mentally strong enough to take on a sore hamstring.”

Defensive end Jack Crawford (shoulder), offensive guard Ron Leary (groin) and tight end Geoff Swaim (ankle) were full participants Thursday. Swaim was a new addition to the report.

Is it just me or do we seem to have a disproportionately larger number of guys injured each season and each week?

Maybe it's because I follow this team much closer than any other other. But when they announce the injuries in the pre-game we always seem to have more than the other teams.

And more importantly we always seem to have more "out for the season" or out for an extended number of games

IE Romo and Sean Lee types

That's what you get with all these high risk players they draft. Also I'm not 100% sold on Woicik. I know he has a ton of rings but we've had more injuries since he's been here (2nd time around) than I can ever remember then having.

Said it before, but Scandrick is getting a little long in the tooth. Doesn't seem like it, but he's been around for almost a decade now. Old players get hurt and speed players can't be effective when they can't run.
