RW: Steve Wyche reports Cowboys will bring back Brooking
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keith Brooking - LB - Cowboys NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports that the Cowboys will bring back ILB Keith Brooking for the 2011 season.
Wyche cautions that Brooking will not be "an every-down player," most likely working in a rotation with 2010 second-round pick Sean Lee. Prior to this report, Brooking seemed like a prime release candidate entering his age-36 season. He racked up 97 tackles last year, but expect his stats to go down.

I'd rather go younger, but there is no depth behind James and Lee so I can understand it.

Give me any of these non-expensive FA players over him...

Jameel McClain, ILB, Ravens. Age: 26
Barrett Ruud, ILB, Buccaneers. Age: 28
Kirk Morrison, ILB, Jaguars. Age: 29
Paul Posluszny, ILB, Bills. Age: 26
Omar Gaither, ILB, Eagles. Age: 27
Kevin Burnett, ILB, Chargers. Age: 28

I like it from the leadership standpoint, but I really don't think he has much left in the tank.

What would be the purpose of dumping him now?

ummmmm he can't play anymore.

The good organizations these days get rid of players like him a year or 2 before they are actually done.

We like to keep them a year or 2 after they are done.

We have to fill a depth chart.

I think Brookings could fill a role with this team. But he has no business being a starter, that's for sure.

New England won 3 super bowls by signing or keeping guys like Brooking around, in case you forgot.

That said, there's nothing wrong with keeping him now into training camp. Maybe his role will be reduced or maybe he gets beat out then released. Point being, there's no reason to release him today.

I would wait until it got closer to the actual start of the season before you get your panties twisted over who's on the team and who isn't.

Dallas also won w3 Super Bowls with young to mid age players. What's your point? The players the Patriots had still had something left too.

If Brooking wasn't in decline. Different story. But, he is old and it showed last year. No reason he should take any kind of reps away from a youngin or mid aged football player.

I can handle Brooking for one more year, but we still need to address our depth at LB.

Why not. We need someone to lead the pregame pep rally / dance party :jerkoff

Every one of last year's six wins can be directly tied to Brookings' crackerass Ray Lewis parody.

He's indispensable.

The guy coaching our defense now seems to disagree, but I'm sure you know more than him

Nope, sure don't. That is why I am not some fatass in a sweatshirt coaching Dallas's defense.

I just don't like the way that Brooking has played.
