Roster Moves Include Kitna, Harris, Greisen
Posted by nickeatman at 12/14/2011 9:46 AM CST on dallascowboys.com

The Cowboys keep churning that roster and the latest moves include quarterback Jon Kitna, who was placed on injured reserve with a back injury that has kept him out of action for the last four weeks. Kitna, who has said this will be his last season and plans to retire, has likely played his last snap in the NFL – a career that spans 15 years.

Taking Kitna’s spot on the active roster will be rookie receiver Dwayne Harris, a sixth-round pick from East Carolina who played in five games to start the year but has been on the practice squad. Harris will likely help not only with receiver depth, but also in the return game. Harris still leads the team with 11 punt returns, but for a 6.6 yard average.

And to give the Cowboys a third quarterback for practice, the club signed Chris Greisen to the practice squad. The long-time Arena League journeyman, returns to the team after spending the final week of the 2010 regular season on the active roster. The Cowboys added Greisen to the team last year when Tony Romo was on IR, Kitna was battling an abdominal injury and Stephen McGee started the finale in Philadelphia.

Greisen is a smart guy. He was the QB of the Arena team here in Virginia Beach, and I spoke with him briefly a few months ago. Asked him about coming to Dallas at the end of the year.

He has aspirations about getting into coaching, also. Comes accross very well.

So you do have sources?

lol

No.... just spoke with him briefly. I recognized his name as being the guy we signed for a week last year. He said that he had ties to a Cowboys coach through the AFL, and that person called him while he was at his in-laws last year and said "How would you like to be a Cowboy for a week?" He said he jumped at the chance. Cowboys liked him because he was smart and could learn the offense quickly. But that he was gone a week later.

We talked a little about a QB camp he runs, and I mentioned he sounded like a coch. He expressed interest in getting into coaching eventually.

Edit: I also spoke briefly with Dominic Rhodes. I asked him if he ever came close to signing with the Cowboys, and he said no. Reason I asked was, years ago (around 2005/6) a female poster (want to say Woodysgirl but not sure - maybe Latunanostra or someone else) supposedly worked for a company that helped find Cowboys players a place to live or something like that. She was one of the ones in the "sources" circle, where when they said something, you had better not question it! Anyway, she was saying that the Cowboys were close to signing Rhodes, and that he was in Dallas looking for a place. He (obviously) ended up with the Colts, and nothing was ever said again.

Virginia Beach? Is Fort Story still up and running?

Also, if you see any big-headed mixed kids, about age 19, looking for their father..you do not know me. Do you hear me? You do not know me.

I am actually interested in knowing if the base is still operational. When I was getting out they were closing down a lot of bases. I spent a lot of time down there, enjoyed it quite a bit.

I bet you sent scouting tape of Greisen to the Cowboys
