Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has only played for one owner during his nine-year NFL career. And according to the 31-year-old, he couldn't be employed by anyone better.
During a Thursday radio interview, Romo was asked about his relationship with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. He quickly responded that Jones "is the best owner in sports."
Despite not having reached professional football's biggest stage in more than 15 years, Jones' will to win is what separates him from the competition, according to Romo.
"As a quarterback, you have one objective, literally, it's to win," Romo said on The Ben and Skin Show [KESN-FM] 103.3 in Dallas. "Your sole objective, your entire focus is about winning. I have an owner whose sole objective is the same as mine. And I'm telling you, it's a huge deal to have that, simply because I don't necessarily believe that that's every owner's objective. I think it comes into a lot of other stuff. To have him as passionate about it, every bit as much as I am, that's awesome and exciting because I care so much and it eats away at you so much when you're not obtaining that. You desperately want to do everything possible to change, to fix, to do whatever.
"He's a joy to be around consistently. He's always a glass half-full guy. He's like me, as soon as we lose, you're so mad and so fired up and so upset with everyone and everything, and then all of a sudden, two days later it's like, 'Okay, but I think I figured out a way to turn it around and change it. So, here we go. Boom.' I love just being around him like that because it's very similar.
"We have the same thoughts on a lot of stuff. I really enjoy him."
