In Dallas to promote his company Nutrition 53, four-time Super Bowl champion Bill Romanowski talked for a few minutes with SportsDayDFW.
The 44-year-old former linebacker, who has slimmed down to 210 pounds, discussed the Cowboys' recent season and what he thought were the major problems.
"They are a team, that to me, had the talent to be special," he said. "They weren't. When you have a team that underperforms like that, you got to look to the head coach. They make a switch during the season, and I think Jason Garrett did a good job. He kind of turned the energy around. Was it perfect? No. But guess what, they didn't have a starting quarterback."
As far as the quarterback position is concerned, Romanowski seemed to be a fan of Tony Romo. He said the Cowboys starting quarterback has a lot of potential, but he has not produced in big games.
"I see a guy that moves well," Romanowski said. "I see a guy that is special. I see a guy that loves the game. I see a guy that competes. But I see a guy that needs to study more, and in the big game, play big."
It doesn't get any bigger than Sunday's game at Cowboys Stadium. And Romanowski had an interesting take on how he thinks the Packers could come out on offense.
"Green Bay's going to open up the game," he said. "They have to. They're going to open it up, four, five receiver sets. I wouldn't doubt it if they came out and they threw it 20 straight times. That literally can happen."
Romanowski has a brother that lives in Dallas and considers the city, "on some level, almost like a second home."
In terms of how he thinks the Cowboys will bounce back from their 6-10 season, he said: "I think, next year, watch out. Because they'll be special."
